help keep muscle?

So Im having some rough times. Just had surgery on my wrist 4 weeks ago for a torn cartilage and am in the middle of the healing process, when I discovered that I will probably need to have surgery on my shoulder. It started bothering me a little bit after my wrist did and my attempts at rest and rehab have been completely unsuccessful. I am seeing a specialist to get his opinion, but I am almost positive I will need surgery. This means some serious time off. I have already been off a little more than 2 months for my wrist and it will be another 3 months till its healed and I can do shoulder surgery, which is going to be more months off. Bottom line, Im gonna be out the gym for awhile. In an effort to keep my muscle mass, I am considering doing a long cycle, maybe 20 weeks, during this time being out, in an effort to slow down the muscle loss and hopefully keep some mass. I have already lost around 20 pounds because of the wrist, and I cannot imagine what 6 more months is going to do. Any thoughts, pros and cons, on doing this?

I would say this is a great time to clean out your system and get off of gear until your shoulder recovery is done. I had shoulder reconstruction and believe me the rehab is long and brutal. Your strength is going to go to zero and it took me 9 months before i felt 100%. And i was in great shape when i had my surgery. If you do a long cycle you are just going to fuck up and lose all of it. Your shoulder will be in a sling for 2 months and you wont be able to pick up a can of green beans without shitting your pants. Just welcome the off time and use it to get really lean without compromising your shoulder rehab. Believe me i have been through it!!!!

Thanks for all replies. I am already on sarms right now but Im not sure how a long cycle of that will affect my body. Yes, my loss has definately slowed when I started that 2 weeks ago, but I dont know if a long period of that is safe. Wouldn't test be safer? and I already have some test, but if I was gonna do more Sarms I would have to buy more. The test is UG made at home and will expire in a few months so wasting it is not an issue. What are the studies of gear usage without lifting, but still a clean and large diet? possible to gain any pounds or at least prevent atrophy?
