HELP!!! I heaved all over my carpet...

Pretty sure only rookies don't know how much they can handle. I was learning how to stumble before you were learning how to crawl.

1. Clean up as much as you can of any umm, solid material.

2. Wet the spot down with COLD water, you DON'T want this to dry.

3. Now listen to RedGuru and go get some of that Oxyclean stuff, attack the hell out of the spot with that, first.

4. Don't use a steam cleaner until the spot has been pulled out, the heat will set it in.

This is not a lost cause ... yet. Just don't cook the stain in or you're done.
 
anything has to be easier to clean up than dog poop and puke

That's why the one web link posted in here suggests hydrogen peroxide mixed with dish detergent. Same concept as oxyclean.

if you have a white carpet, spray bleach on it and let it soak... works all the time. otherwise , laundry detergent (Biz or Tide) will get it out.. good luck
