help! guys/gals who know pc

well... im pc illiterate, but i wanna get mroe ram into my computer. so it appears i have 256 mb of 2700 "ddr" ram on my amd athlon 1800+. i wanna put in another 256 mb stick of 2700. my friend tells me i have to get the same voltage and timings on this new stick. so.. question is: how do i find out the voltage and timings of my current 256 mbs. merci.

Is this a homemade rig or an OEM?

look in the manual that came with your motherboard. it should tell you (these numbers are arbitraty) something like... your 3.4 volts with 128 pins and some multiple of numbers that adds to 128 which is the arrangement of the pins. then just search on ebay with a couple of the numbers you find and youll find it cheap.
