Help from guys / gals who know their cars!

Ok. So I posted about a week ago about leasing a new car. I am still looking around at a few different cars..including the jeep and the impreza.

I currently have a volkswagon jetta 1999...with more problems than anyone can imagine! This is my SECOND LEMON JETTA!!

So the whole reason why I decided to lease a car in the first place was because the Jetta broke down AGAIN: it was overheating this time. I decided to fix the Jetta so that I can sell it. When I took it to the goodyear yesterday (I had it towed), they found that there are a FEW DAMN problems with the FREAKING car this time!! The fans are not turning on to cool the engine. There Was a GODDAMN thermometer shoved so deeply into the motor that it was blocking the flow of coolant in the engine!! SHITTTT@!@!!!
I guess that the Volkswagon dealer (where I just had the car into because a freaking cylinder on the car stopped working!!!!!) bought the wrong sized thermometer and decided that he did not care enough to try to get it out!!

So all of the labor (at the goodyear, because I will never take the car to the VW ripoff dealer) and parts will bring me to: $897.46.

This includes: coolant flush, water pump replacement, timing belt replacement (since they have to take apart the belt anyway), and replacing the thermometer gasket + labor. Does this sound reasonable?

I know if I had taken it to the VW dealer, it would have easily cost me $2000.00. I wanted to take it back to the dealer and see if they would admit that there was even a thermometer stuck in the motor!

Damn I'm frustrated and pissed.

I bet 75% or more of that $900 is Labor..
And I bet that goodyear labor rate is not much lower than at the dealer.

They have to take the engine apart to fix simple things these days.
and if you didn't have the dealer that screwed up do the repair it may be harder to get them to pay you cash.. I would have made them do the repairs for parts only.

I really despise that dealer now. Did you mean that you would have made the dealer do the repair for parts only?

yes. or for free if you have a good case. Call or email VW of North America and request assistance..

Some Dealerships are OK or good on knowledge or Service.
None are cheap.

It's all about the Dealership, the Brand and especially the Service Manager and how they run the place..

And the best is to find a local independant that knows VW's or Toyo's etc.
