Um, this is mini me's first year in school and apparently I'm s'pose to buy a gift for her teacher.

I haven't even bought any gifts for mini me. Wth do I buy her kindergarten teacher?

(single parent budget pleasethxkbi)

:D

Ps- I'm trying to avoid the orthodox candle set, lotion set, apple set, fruit basket set, or picture frame set....(what? my stepmonster was a teacher...i saw all that crap every christmas)...of course, i could always go the emblematic christmas ornament set route.

easy...movie tickets

Or LOTS AND LOTS OF booze, having to deal with little mosters all day, who would not want to drink ;-)

I was just going to suggest candles and I read your PS...

a christmas ordament, coffee gift certificates, gift certificate to a teacher store (they love that)

I got it!

A script of nerve pills! I am sure she needs em!

naaa just kidding...A gift card to a nice restaurant is always a nice gift for a teacher as I am sure she needs a night out every now and then...Or you could bring your daughter to the store and let her pick out something...Just a thought!

hmmm.... lemme think about this for a minute

be back in a minute with my thoughts

^^We might be waiting a while before she has a thought again

I once got one of my son's teachers a jar that stated "ashes of problem students" I wasn't there when she got it but I hope she got as big of kick of it as I did.

notecards and a pen. they write a lot of notes.

or a cookbook.

or earplugs.

dang we're on the same page...i was thinking doing a "movie night package"....by getting an unpopped popcorn tub and fill it with snack items, drinks, and free movie tickets.

Thought about giving a disposable camera and a coupon for developing to take pics of kids in the classroom or hell a vacation away from them or something. Maybe include a photo album or frame.

Dang it...I dont know. *sighs*

Maybe I should just give her a nicely framed picture of myself to put on her desk. I mean, what more could she ask for??

Seriously,

Most early education teachers buy a lot of their own teaching supplies for the classroom. As we know, teachers are grossly underpaid, why not get her a gift certificate to a teacher's supply store or an art/craft supply store.

This is so true....best idea yet!

Something creative, Let your mini me make something for her... though you opt out of the candle, lotion, etc... Get a basket and things to decorate it and add a few odd and end items in it. Make it a gift from mini me, not from mom. Movie tickets (gift certificate), with a inexpensive spa set, some boutiques sell some fairly inexpensive products that you could throw in the basket... but it will be cheaper if you let mini you make it herself.

this would be the ideal, perfect, less costly yet most effective gift route.

besides, she IS teaching mini me i wonder how much she talks during the day? she's so funny i bet she has brilliant thoughts much like her mother and probably rarely ever gets the attention that she needs therefore continues her days in chat so not to be short changed of her brilliance and beauty and charm and wit and stuff. ah yes, mini hh....the world needs more of them.

Give her one of the mag's you are in with a note that say's "I'm better than you and I have bigger firmer boobs than you"

Put a thumb in a box and tell her it was mini you's last teacher.

Get the biggest picture frame you can buy and then have mini me make a collage with all the pics of you from photo shoots and crap... even the fatty pics (ie all of them)

Or a life size picture of you, I prefer the rainbow bright one, all kids love rainbow bright. She could make a game with it like, pin the boob on the rainbow bright or something. ;)

i dont know if anyone could handle a poster size of HH as rainbow brite. might be dangerous.

i'm diggin' the collage of HH tho. i don't think that should be limited to just her teacher tho...everyone in the school should have one. i'll be back, i have work to do.

I'd say pin the ass on HH, but I don't think Kinder kids could handle something so big with a blind fold on.

So just get her a bat. She will know what to do with it.

yes, definitely a great idea. there's a big ol teacher stuff store near me. i'll get a gift cert from there and the popcorn movie package.

i'll encourage her to take me to the movies with her. she'd want to be my BFF if she knew me.

I didnt read the thread but up until my girls were taken from me I would have my children make thier teachers (and the student teacher) gifts. I had four children and was also a single parent with very little money. You can imagine it was quite a production. Matter of fact as I didnt have any money we made gifts for everyone. I used to do A LOT of baking, even earned money selling banana nut bread one year, but I digress....

With my girls I would make tie-dye T-shirts or christmas tree ornaments, hand-paint aprons, etc.

It shouldnt cost you more than 10$ (20$ tops) and you will spend time with your daughter MAKING something together for her teacher. Imagine the satisfaction and happiness your daughter will feel giving her teacher a one-of-a-kind gift!!! Have her make a construction paper card and the one-of-a-kind gift is ready.

Happy Holidays!!! :)

Get her a journal so that she can chronicle all her broken dreams...lol.

when do we get started? my boiological clock is ticking away here...

Might be too late - but here are some thoughts from another kindergarten teacher ... ;)

~gift cert to Starbucks, Wal-Mart (great for school stuff), Target, Michaels (or other craft store), VISA gift card

~NOTHING with apples on it, #1 teacher, etc.

~Homemade bread, if you are a good cook - OMG, I got a loaf of homemade pumpkin bread that was TO DIE FOR.

Candles, lotions, frames, etc are nice - ALL gifts or sentiments are nice - but teachers get a lot of that stuff. And scents are so personal - what you love, they may hate or be allergic to. Candy is also overdone. Homemade knick-knack gifts are sweet and a wonderful thought, but most teachers get so much stuff that takes up space and is unwanted. This is NOT to sound ungrateful, like I said, ALL gifts or sentiments are wonderful and made people feel great.

Damn man I'm paying $500.00 a month. I hope my kids teacher is not the lowest paid around.

I ended up getting her a giftcard to Target (who doesn't love target?) and then the whole movie night thing. Unpopped bowl of popcorn with 2 free movies tickets, sodas, and assorted candy in it. There's this really quaint well known salon in the area of the school so I also picked her up a gift cert for a mani and pedi. (from mom)

I was at mini me's holiday party for a little over an hour yesterday and came out with more glitter glue crusties, sparkles, elmer's, puffballs, and paper cuts all over me. I felt pretty confident about the mani after that. :worried:

that is the reason it is banned around here, it became a competition among the mom's about who did and did not give.
