Good to kick the bad habits before the kid arrives :)

My hubby quit drinking over a year ago. I quit while I was pregnant but getting back to my bottle of wine(a night) routine.

Trust me life doesn't stop once you have kids. You are just more responsible with things. :)

you know i had quit drinking for almost 9 years (age30-39)
at some point, was about 1.5 years for me
you stop thinking about it

I even continued to bartend for the first 2.5 years of my sobriety
it was outback steakhouse so the scene allowed me to make it

proud of you Phad, just don't look back, you know what's in that direction, don't dwell on it, but don't ever forget it either. Keep looking forward. One day, then one more, then one more, every day is another day you have to quit. Well, you don't HAVE to, but it keeps the shit from hittin the fan, don't have to make excuses to anybody, none of that.
Your a good man, glad your my friend.... ( except for the photoshoped beard in your avi, your a coool dood)

Seriously, prop to you phaded.

Some people don't grow up when they have kids.

most my pals who have youngsters nothings changed.. they go out every other night.. leave their kids with their parents for 2 days at a time.. i think thats pretty selfish and immature if you ask me..

but honestly i've never really been one to go out anyhow.. i'd rather just chill at my house and get a lil twisted these days..

i get cravings to drink/get fucked up and that shit is rough.. its pretty strange cause its usually on fridays/sats and its usually right after a workout..

just like drinking took practice, doing things sober does too. I used to feel like my life would never be the same, it was totally centered around alcohol, or alcohol being included in the activity. I felt like nothing would be as fun, ie, dancing, fishing, sports activities, etc, they all were someplace that I had gotten buzzed or drunk for 25 years or more, now I was talking about doing them w/o alcohol, didn't seem like it would be fun anymore and I just chose to not do them. Sex was the single biggest concern, sex w/o alcohol is awkward for awhile, at least it was for me. That was the thing that took the longest to get into the swing of, especially if your still dating, with an so/ wife, it changes but they roll with it too. In all honesty, some things STILL aren't, like going to clubs, so I don't do the club scene anymore, But all the rest, after I had been to a ballgame and drank soda water or fishing and just took Gatorade, it just became normal to not be buzzed, I was really freaked about it for nothing.
It was funny for awhile to tell people "no, but I'll take a coke/tea/ water" when they asked if I'd like a beer/ drink. You get some laughs at firts, but they pretty quickly stop asking, some even join you in something else. Like you said, it's pretty much habbit...
Try it for a month or two, to see what you think...

same here
except I've never likde sex with a buzz
used to do it with a buzz the first time
but after the first time I hit it sober

and then in my 9 years of sobriety
I was fortunate initially to have a gf so sex stayed consistent

then I moved and started working for my parents
went back to school for 2 years for a mortuary science degree
and continued to bartend at night

so I went 9 months w/o sex
but I was so busy
and then I met my wife
she was raised very "christian" and even though she was somewhat of a party girl at 24
she wasn't giving up the pussy fast, that part of her remained conservative
and I respected that and it made it easy because by the time I did get in(about 2 months) we knew each other so well there was no ackwardness

waiting was worth it
damn the sounds she made when I first went in

what I do notice between sex sober and sex buzzed
I wont have sex with a girl sober if I'm not very turned on

I dont have any digital photos of her, just those that I can scan

she likde to ride me while I spanked her ass
sort of a sweet and sour experience

I went 8 months, got in unbelievable shape, was waking up early and feeling great, yoga 3x/ wk, just felt really happy for the first time I could remember. Then I picked it up again. It's habitual for me, but once I start I don't stop until I can't put any more down. I'm tired of it.
