Have you ever?

My mother slapped me across the face on more than a few occasions for lip/attitude that most parents would give children a reprimand, time out or have a privilege removed, from childhood all the way up to my late 20s (mom could have her moments and we lived together). I grew up in a hit first, think later household :whatever: I've even had a backhand across the face from daddy (that was because I was shoving him off my mother, whom he was stomping to death).

My mother-in-law slapped me or punched me across the face the second week I was married to my first husband. She was a psycho with substance abuse issues (I didn't know that at the time). She got into a fight with my husband and had been screaming at him, non stop, for over 45 minutes. Not lying. This woman had a voice you could hear five BIG houses away. Shit would just go through your skull. Anyway, I'd sort of hit my limit and got tired of listening to my husband being verbally castrated and stepped between them literally asking her to take a break and calm down a little. POW. I hadn't touched her, hadn't insulted her. Just raised my voice enough to get over her fucking mouth. I did have both my hands raised, but I speak with my hands a little, it was as in "calm down".

So, she cracked me and caught me good in the nose and that's the one place where if I get hit I absolutely lose my shit and see complete red. I was totally shocked and went for her. My husband had me off the ground in his arms before I could think but I still got my hand in her hair, which was in pincurls. I refused to let go, he tore my hand out of her hair along with a huge hunk of hair and probably some scalp.

As we were living with her at the time, and had no money at all and no where else to go, I had to abjectly grovel to beg her forgiveness. She still iced the hell out of me but let us stay. Luckily my husband punched me in the eye a few weeks later so she started warming up to me when she saw my shiner.

I've also been punched in the face by men, hard enough to be dropped, twice; once by my father (that one was seriously unfair, I was doing exactly what he told me to do and the result was exactly what I told him it would be and he told me to go ahead anyway) and once by my first husband (see above).

Cool enough?
