have a question about tightening stomach muscles

Ok, ive been working out and doing exercises for my body to get more toned, in the past 2 weeks, i have noticed a difference, but my stomach kills me. I have had 3 kids and i cant get the muscles to tighten up. Im seriously thinking of getting a tummy tuck but if i can avoid that and do exercises, what kind can i do?

Is it loose skin or the muscles??

Cuz with a tummy tuck you can just tighten the skin only or tighten the muscle and the skin......just a fyi....

If it's loose skin and you've maintained the weight loss/muscle build for some time, your skin may have retracted all it can and it won't retract any more, so a tuck may be the only option.....

I have heard that pregnancy can 'separate' abdominal muscles down the mid-line. This results in pain and the inability to tighten things up. Just a thought. But I hope thats not it, because thats gross!

That does happen, which is what the one part of the abdominoplasty is for -- they sew the loosened muscles back up.......

Holy Crap! Why does having a baby have to pound the shit out of a woman's body!? Damn.

Well, depending on your beliefs -- it's all Eve's fault cuz when she ate the apple one of the punishments was pain in childbirth. Damn her!! LOL :p

ok that kinda scares me,i was thinking about a boob job too. But the tummytuck is really want i want. Ill let u guys know,:) thanks Pamela your the greatest

My abs split when I was pregnant plus I gained and lost 60 lbs. so the skin is loose, so no matter what I do I can't look the way I want to without a full tummy tuck. I already had the boobs done and had complications from infection, then had them done again and still had some complications but I'm happier than I was before. There are a lot of mixed feelings that go along with having plastic surgery done...just take your time and research, then one day you'll get the nerve to make the call to schedule surgery. :)

How long did it take to lose those 60 lbs? I gained 23 kg (about 46 lbs I guess) and now there´s 10 kg to go...

I was wondering P how you were doing after the redo on the boobages.....they didn't get infected again did they??

RE: the mixed feelings about plastic surgery -- I think that's very true. There are expectations that come along with it & even tho the surgeon tells you what to expect & not, you may still have that back of the mind thought.

If you're considering getting surgery do your research!! Look all over the 'net & find the dr's certs & complaints against him/her -- all on the net.

A good site for research is www.liposite.com. They have discussion boards & before & after pics, etc....regarding all forms of PS. The ladies on the boards are very very nice & everyone has had or will have something done, so feel free to ask any questions....

No, fortunately no infection this time but my body chemistry doesn't agree with disolvable stitches at all, so instead of the stitches disolving in a few weeks, my body rejects them. I started popping stitches a week after surgery and I just had another one come out a week ago, 3 months post op. I'll need some cosmetic touch-ups done or I may just have the lift done one more time using regular stitches when I get the tuck done. This doctor has used regular stitches on me for 2 other procedures and they were absolutely fine. They prefer disolvable stitches because the scars are less visible but in my case this is not longer an option. Then to top it off I also had a reaction to the tape this time (same tape as I used last time so who knows why I had problems) and I have a dime size round scar that will probably need to be treated with lazer. But even with all the BS I've gone through I'm still much happier than I was before surgery.

Yea, but in this PC atmosphere ...mothers are only incubators. Yea, ok.

(Sorry, that PC bullshit gets stuck in my craw).

Back to the topic at hand.

I have seen (and had) nothing less than miraculous abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and have seen results that could only be described like this:

"You actually PAID a doctor to do that to you?!"

Do research. Make sure that the doc you hire is BIGTIME competent as an abdominoplasty is a much more serious surgery - could surpass 4 hours. The cost is up there as well. But the result can be no less than amazing.

Good Luck!
