Has anyone had Lasic eye surgery?

Got it done 2 years ago. Paid $4000... Yeah, a lot of money, but it was one of the best surgeons in the U.S. doing it. If I'm going to mess with my eyes, $4000 is nothing in order to be on the safe side. Had a number of checkups with my optometrist and he said the way the surgeon did it and my recovery was as perfect as possible. For a while, had halos around bright lights at night...but it's like 95% gone now...don't even notice the 5% because it's so weak it's not noticeable unless I make a point of noticing it. Otherwise, absolutely no complications at all. Only spent a day with my eyes covered.

I LOVE IT! The best money I ever spent.

Man to pay $4000 you must have had some bad eyes then, huh?

I had it done a couple years ago. They said with the Lasik procedure, the flap has the possibility of reopening years after the procedure. If you get hit in the head this can happen. Since I get hit all the time I had to have PRK, where they scrape that part of the eye off. Unfortunately the halos at night are horrible. Any source of light in otherwise dark conditions will have a bad halo around it. But, I don't have to worry about a piece of my fucking eye flopping open in the ring.

A couple of my coworkers have gotten lasik (and have raved about it). They were both back to work a couple of days later.

I thought about getting Lasic done but reconsidered it.

I must have had the idea in my head that it was permanant, and after hearing that your eyes will degrade just as much as before (except you are reset to 0 again), I decided having my eyes cut open for 5-10 years of vision was not worth it. That and you can only get it done once.
Huxler eye center has one procedure that seems different than what I hear. Permanant contacts. They cut the flap and insert a contact in. No cutting, and after your vision degrades you can have it removed and have another put in. Sounds a bit more my speed.

Or I will wait till they have a pill or a shot that makes your eyes at 100% With genetic engineering who can tell what will happen. I am still waiting for a pill that actually makes hair grow back, lol.

I've always hear that it was permanent. My friend that had it said his Doctor said in like 20-25 years he might have to do another procedure to get them back to 20/20. What have you guys heard? Does it only last 10 years?

I had mine done last year and I was back at work the next day.
Only cost me $1,980.00 for both eyes.

Pretty sure they are not permanate. Your eyes will go bad just like before. So if you get your vision corrected, and read, be on the computer alot, etc, they will get strained and go bad. How long they last I am don't know, 5-10 years is just a guess.

I asked this question on another board when I was considering getting it, but the post is no longer there (it's been about a year or year and a half so no surprise). Would post it anyhow, but the consensus there was that they didn't think it was possible biologically to make the eye never degrade again. (if your not genetically lucky and have perfect vision all your life)
