I hear that is one of the worst things to crash down off of.

Xanax sucks. Makes you feel all jelly like. Like a water balloon or something. Stick to uppers, no downers.

I had a pharmacist tell me that you can't OD from xanax for some reason. I asked b/c I was concerned that Xanax is my sister's party drug of choice and I was worried. He did warn that withdrawals/detox from it pretty much require doctor's supervision though. He said that it was totally MISERABLE to shake that habit.

What is the street price for xanax? Is it something ridiculuous like the $40 per tablet for oxycotin?

maybe I am getting confused.... what is the worst Rx'd med to withdraw from?

my doctor gave me xanax and i just stopped taking it, because i didn't like it, and you're not supposed to do that and that shit was scary. coming off it is very hard. stuff is garbage.

Taking xanax during the day to control anxiety is one thing. Taking it to go to sleep is a bad idea. Once you stop taking it, you'll lie awake in bed all night for weeks before you'll be able to fall asleep on your own again. It's not fun.

WTF you wanna know for! benzo's are a MF'er, but Oxycontin HAS to be the worst or one of them for sure.

I have no idea. Regrettably, some of my distant relatives are the drug dealers in the small town where my sister lives. They also fight roosters. I hate those relatives. Anyway, some time back I called them and told them that if they EVER sold drugs to my brother or sister again I would see to it that they go to prison for a LOOOOONNNNGGGG time.

Can you give a description of the "scarey" stuff and what you went through?

Oh hell... that sounds like some Tobacco Roads chapter right there.

Ummmmm, really? Cuz benzo's activate GABA A receptors...and if you activate enough of them for a long enough time........nite nite.

Plus, they undergo hepatic metabolism....so even if it's hard to OD in the traditional sense that we think of (killing the respiratory drive/aspiration of stomach contents into the lungs), you could easily fry the shit outta your liver, and then die over the next week or so without treatment.

I dont really know from first hand experience though, the only benzo I've ever had was a few mgs of Versed before surgery...and I dont even remember that very much.

coming off a dependence to benzos typically requires medically supervised detoxification. its one of the few drugs (besides alcohol) that has the potential to have life threatening withdrawal symptoms.

Ahhhh, so if it's like ETOH detox, I wonder if you get Delirium Tremens, which if is untreated progresses to Korsakoff's Syndrome...

when I abused Xanax, I'd fall asleep
therefore it really has no rec. value to me

it's def. not a fun drug to come off.

Nothing compares to Methadone and Oxys

A great drug if used properly. Excellent for quick relief of high anxiety, but I wouldnt use it long term.

I can't imagine getting addicted to any benzo for anything other than for sleeping.

Actually different things altogether. DT’s don’t necessarily lead to Korsakoff’s. Long term drinking does/could.
Anybody who’s had a hangover has suffered a minor (very, very minor) form of the DT’s.

Benzo's are the worse and they have the potential to kill you when you withdraw. Oxy’s are just like heroin.

Dude.....I just watched it happen a few days ago. Dont argue with me by bringing up minutae bullshit points. I'm not in the mood today

Bahhhhh, I'm just grumpy today.....feel free to smack me.

I was on Xanax for years for my anxiety. I took .5 mg 3xday. I recently switched to Clonazopam(klonopin) as it has a much longer half life and you don't get the ups and downs. same thing .5 mg 3xday. I had to take them to sleep. Now I am down to .75 mg/day. one .5 at noon and another half of that later if I need one. Many days I don't. I now take Nortryptolyne(sp) to sleep. It's a lot better cause it not only helps me sleep, but helps with anxiety well into the next day. And is non narcotic or habit forming. My long term goal is to only use the Clonazopam as a back up and the Nortryptolyne every night to sleep. it's a long process though coming off that shit. But hell, it's only been a month and my dose has been cut in half off the benzos.
