If you look up HardCore in a dictionary, you'll find Intensely Loyal. Die Hard. Dedicated.... to bodybuilders, it's a whole lot more than that... it's a way of thinking... a way of life.

For several of us on this board who saywe are "hardcore"... it means training balls out as hard as you can without foo-fooness. And by Foo-fooness (at least as I have observed it in gyms I've worked out in), I mean nice, fancy clean equipment, expensive gym sound systems pumping Rick Dees and the weekly top 40, cardio equipment connected to the interent so you can "surf" while you are exercising, magazine racks that feature such titles as.... hell... magazine racks period.

A nice dark, dank, hole of a gym with concrete floors and a gym that demands you use chalk. Weights that are time tested and made of scarred Iron and Steel. Bloodstains on the floor from insane workouts within the asylum of pain.

But just a gym isn't being "hardcore" -- Hardcore is training your legs so hard that when you are running to the bathroom to puke, you don't know if you are going to make it. It's not caring if the music is playing, because when you train all you can hear is the blood pounding through your ears.

Hit on women at the gym? Fuck that... pick up some girls for dinner and drinks... talk to them then... until then Junior... stop wacking your dick and train.

Train hard and don't screw around... I love the gym.

Kronk knows what I mean... and I know BFold knows what I mean... as the KC Crew does too...

To me hardcore is never missing a scheduled workout for anything, and putting everything else aside to make sure you eat when you need to eat and sleep when you need to sleep. It's going balls to the wall in your workouts, and never letting pain be anything other than an incentive.

Where you train I dont think has anything to do with it though. I train in a shiny yuppie gym, i dont have a whole lot of choice in the matter. But I dont rely on my surroundings to be hardcore, i bring my hardcore with me where ever it is I go to hit the weights. You guys have seen my videos that I just posted, the gyms dont get much more pussy than where I train, but there is no doubt that I do it hardcore

I have to do the same thing myself. I train at a 24 Hour Fitness... it is as FOO FOO as it gets brother. But I truly appreciate the gutteral gyms... I truly do.

And no, just going to a "hardcore" gym doesn't make you hardcore... but it is where I feel most at home.

I agree, I came from a place that was dark, dirty, and filled with competitive bodybuilders and nationally ranked powerlifters. Hell, my training partner had squatted over 800lbs in competition. But now thats gone, and I'm stuck in a 24 hour a day, shiny, yuppie-fest. So now I am considered a freak by most of the people that train around me, they openly stare and make comments when I hit it up hard, ie, deadlift over 500 for reps. But frankly I'm starting to thrive on it anyway, I've always liked negative attention....

If you have to explain what hardcore training is to someone, they wouldn't understand!

probably not, but if someone doesn't wise them up... then who will?

I made this post for me... really... and for those who DO understand... inspiration if nothing else... and others have contributed to it as well...

hardcore is doing 200 pounds on the legpress instead of the normal 110 pounds...

hardcore is 6 sets with the silver 10's

hardcore is wearing a bench shirt and pushing 60 pounds at the gym.

I initially came over to this board to see B Fold's new avatar..which is his best one yet :).. and to get training ideas.

Yet I am glad I read this post, C. I wish you were this inspiring and positive most of the time.

Well said C-Ditty.

Very nice responses as well.

May I add that after my leg workout yesterday, I honestly felt like I was going to throw up. It felt fucking awesome.

What did you do for legs? I felt the same way the other night. After 8 sets of squats, 4 sets of leg presses, extensions, curls, and calves. . . I was ready to barf. Luckily, I was able to hold my mud.

Well, I'm glad you could come over and put your 2 cents in on yet ANOTHER one of my posts.

Oh, and I AM postive ALL of the time, the issues I discuss on C&C are ALL POsitive baby... but this is neither the time nor place to discuss that.

Positive... heh... this is the training board. I don't know anything else.

I had another response typed out, but I re-read it...you're reading into my post more than what is presented. I am "for real" and gave a sincere compliment. That's all...no drama. Unlike you I have only one persona..the real me. I am the same person inside and outside of the gym and on every board I visit.

That's where we differ I guess... If I were the same person in the gym as out... they'd have to lock me in a cage. In my gym, I'm an animal...

It's nice to know you can "be yourself" at your gym... but then again, you're a woman. (no offense spatts)

Hardcore- Full intensity with no regrets, no holding back and above all no limits place by oithers. To do what the other person won't and keep on doing it.....

All most passed out today on clean and jerks
185 x 8
195 x 7
205 x 6 dropped the 7th cause I couldn't see.....:bawling:

Ahh, another nauseating workout today. Did chest.

5x5, flat bench
2x8, incline db
2x8, incline flys
ab work

Felt like puking like 3/4 of the way into it. Ahh, that feels so good.

LOL

I tried cables for the first time last week and there was no pain the next two days!!

Never again.

Pain is not an indicator of growth ...

However, I do agree that cables are useless.

Citruside, did you get this from the article " Hardcore Livin' " by John Hnatyschak?

He is quite possibly the greatest man who ever lived. I've incorporated many of his ideas and thoughts into my own routine, and yes, used some of his expressions in writing this. I recently had the opportunity to meet and talk with John, and he really is a work of art... in more than just a physique, but a train of thought.
