Hardcore/Metal/Punk

Anyone into heavy shit like hardcore, metal, or punk? It's basically my favorite kind of music, and for sure the best kind of music to listen to to get you pumped up for an intense workout. Some of my favorite bands are Hatebreed, Slayer, In Flames, Sick Of It All, old Sepultura, Earth Crisis, Diecast, Propagandhi, The Haunted, Candiria.

used to be. don't know who is new, but I like some stuff that was hard back in 94-97. those names you mentioned are good. fave H/C band would have to be shai hulud

Shail Hulud are awesome! It's about time they come out with something new. Supposedly they're releasing a new CD this coming fall. "Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion" is amazing; melodic yet heavy as hell.

hearts once nourished has been out for a while, but they do have a new one coming out soon. There are a lot of good kinda unheard of bands out there...you just gotta look around a little. I wish the CD player at my gym wasnt broken.

im really getting into Eighteen Visions and Poison the Well lately

shai hulud rocks,

what are these genres considered? i thought hardcore but i dont know

I read that shai hulud was considered EMO-core. what ever it is, it is sick. I also like coalesce, integrity, all the victory records heavy hitters, basically. snapcase.

I think Shai Hulud are a hardcore band, especially considering the bands they tour with and are associated with. However there is also a death metal edge to their music, particularly the vocals. Poison the Well are pretty good too, and sound somewhat similar to Shail Hulud, but they are not quite as good IMO.

I've yet to hear anything heavier than Fear Factory, live or on a recording. I have kind of moved on from the BoltThrower, Morbid
Angel, Deicide genre, and find myself more listening to the classic
bands like Slayer, Death, Possessed, Exodus, Testament etc.

oh wow. you consider fear factory heavy? I only like two of their songs, ok maybe three. martyr, the one from mortal kombat, and the remake of cars by gary numan. otherwise, you want heavy? check out integrity, hatebreeed, snapcase, and of course, the above mentioned, shai hulud.

Maybe I am just bias I guess, but:

Dead Man Walking
Full Metal Contact
Edgecrusher
Securitron
Self Bias Resistor
Scapegoat

You should've seen them on their last tour, the sound was just
fucking incredible. Too bad they got sick of each other, I guess
most bands do at some point.

he was listing fear factory songs :p

i boiught there first album a few years ago, it ws ok, but i am soooo far past that now, i won't touch it after hearing some of the real , what i consider heavy, talent that i listen to now

oh my my son!!If your speaking heavy, your speaking my language!Look into Suffocation,Pyrexia,Gorguts,Deprecated.
Blam thats it. Heavy as you can take my friend, nothing heavier anywhere.

I guess I consider heavy under a different context, Death metal
to me is heavy, but it's not heavy in a sense like Fear Factory, which just suffocates your senses. Death Metal is like an overall
experience. Suffocation, Cannibal etc., while being heavy Death,
aren't bone crushing musically like a Fear Factory.

I was in the 93-97 era of death metal. nothing better than some insanely fast double bass.

I was 88-95..........CBGB..Sundance..New York Hard Core.was rockin back then Crumbsuckers.Nemisis.Agnostic Front...DRI..SOD Slayer...Still have my Red Docs..dirty and retired...I'm only 32 and when I went to the KROCK DFP..I felt old..System of Down .Korn good bands but not like the pumping doulble bass of an 80's mosh pit..Ihad a buzz cut and tattoos way before they where in..Good to see "THE DIRT BAG" to go mainstream........

No doubt!

People have different interpretations of 'heavy'.
Some people seem to think that fast is heavy.

Personally I think crushing, crunching medium to slow paced stuff is usually the heaviest.
The last 90 seconds of Machine Head's 'Davidian' is the heaviest riff ever put to tape. I love it.
