Ok so what is your idea of happiness, what makes you happy?

Here's my list....

The soft gentle curves of a beautiful woman.
Dinner with an intelligent and interesting person.
Driving down a long winding road in a convertible.
Riding a Harley on a long open country road.
Listening to the surf break on the beach late at night.
Remembering old friends, no longer here.

These are some of the things that make me smile.

So, what about you?

Holidays
Snuggling by a fire
Riding on the back of a Harley :p
Dinner by the ocean
Walks on the beach
My family
My cat
Real men:p
Kissing

starfish

Hmmm...
The way my hand just seems to fit perfectly in my boyfriends
A long drive by the coast on a sunny day
Long naps on rainy Sunday afternoons
Knowing I made a difference in a child's life (I am a kindergarten teacher...:)
Knowing that I have found my soulmate...the perfect person to spend the rest of my life with

Those are just a few things...

The first smell of spring and summer
A well cooked meal
The way underwear looks on a womens body
The feel of a good work out
The anticipation of a long night of sexual bliss
New love, and memories of old love
a really nice car
The hot sun on a long beach
romantic getaways
success
Christmas with loved ones
The feeling that someone has a crush on you
ELITE FITNESS :)
a good hair cut
new clothes

Actually, serious answer?

Dem Buddhists say it's the extinction of desire, the absense of attachment to things. Nirvana, they call it.

That makes sense to me. Yearning for something (or someone) ... it's like piercing pain. Like your pet, before you get it spayed/neutered, is in all kinds of agony, borne of desire.

So to be free of want save for what we already have.... happiness. But as Americans, we can't even fathom that! It's just not our way. We are strivers.

I guess you can trace that to capitalism. If we didn't strive, we'd collapse economically--and then you can stick a fork in us. I must be reading too many Musclebrains posts. :)

I dont think someone can be truly happy unless they stop wanting...society today focuses too much on wanting. If I could just have this...or If I could just have that...THEN Iwould be happy. I couldn't disagree more!

In order to be happy, you must want and be happy with what you have already in your life.

Like my sig says......

the hope that technology will continue to double every -10 years, leading to a world laced with as many solutions as problems.

and count chocola.

skating
buying new skates
touching peoples bald spots
humming odd trance tunes while touching peoples bald spot
langering old people with bald spots

1. Hangin in with my woman.
2. Harley ride down to the Gulf Coast.....anywhere
3. Dinner and music with my woman.
4. Dinner and Days spent with my closest friends.
5. Helping people.

Waking up to the surf crashing in, would be no.1A, but I'm landlocked right now..

You gotta like a woman who likes Harleys.:)

Sitting in my darkroom watching images appear on paper.
Falling asleep on the couch.
Getting cuddles and drools from my Precious cat.
Seeing the world through a lense.
Biking down a long, narrow trail intensley fast with the wind bristling through hair.
And sooooo much more

This is nice

“I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve.”

--Albert Schweitzer

-Winning a hockey game.
-Hanging out with my friends.
-Seeing my family.
-Using the carpentry skills I'm learning.
-Looking at the stars.
-Sunsets and sunrises.
-Seeing the fruits of my labor.
-The sound of silence.

Happiness is a wallet so thick with money that it won't fold over.

however moore's law has to do with CPU speed, not the advancement of medical, social, technological or educational technologies. i guess that every 10 years or so, we will know 2x as much modern info on these subjects than we currently do.

:nerd:

cuddling with someone you love... wrapping their arms around you... smelling their skin... burying your head in their chest (bonus if it's a gal)

a long walk at dusk until the stars are poking out.. then lying in the grass/snow and staring at the stars.

sunny afternoons at the beach with friends...

art galleries..

a good book..

evenings alone with relaxing music and dim lighting just being.

:)

and happyscrappy... "bang bang shoot shoot"

Listening to a good song, Breakiing a personal record in the gym, being "on", reading a good book (Pillars of Creation comes out in 18 days!!!), playing a good RPG, playing with my dog, getting blitzed and partying. My list is pathetic, I really have not experianced too much of life I would say, but those are pretty much the things that have made me happy as of late, and I havn't done too much of any of em

Said like a true poet. You have it pretty much wrapped up.

happiness is everything
it is usually right behind us.
we chase the greener grass,
only to find
that the grass is brown everywhere.
and just once in your life
when you find that small patch of green grass
someone comes along
with a briggs&stratton powered mower
and cuts that shit down
and your left there in your self pity
to rake up the clippings of your heart.
i will no longer seek happiness,
for true happiness finds you!...........sponge

i still have issues with my old high school sweetheart.

True happiness for me would be to go one FREEKING DAY and not hear some cheese-dick talk about the love of their lives!

What would make me happy? To have the power to enlighten and open the eyes of the blissful.. who walk through life thinking there is such a thing as their "true" love... or even worse, that they believe they have already found it. Ignorance isn't bliss... it's ignorance.

Cozy fire? Boyfriends hand sizes? Long walks in the park??? Zaaaahhh???!!? How about the REALLY important things in life... such as "How big are her tits, and are they fake?" --- "Does she spit or swallow?" Or my personal favorite --- the sexual relationship... ahhhh....

I suppose it would be an all time DREAM of mine to find someone out there who I could get along with... I'm not that bad actually... I'm just jaded, cynical and warped.

My .02.... C

Watching an enemy suffer.
Hearing about cops who swore to uphold the law get busted for breaking it.
Seeing rats get caught at their own game.

A long night with the O.L.
Watching my daughter grow up.
A good day at the gym.
Riding in the pack with my true brothers.

I think it was supposed to be more along the line of discovering the felicity of the members not some yen master Buddhist philosophy, I read that book... to truly be happy with ones self in life is to not want anything... or need anything....then and only then could you be happy..
There will always be want and need....always.. and we would collapse economically if we didn't strive....You sound like someone
who is trying to regurgitate a conversation from an Am.Govt class
gimme a break and save the rhetorical responses..please!!

buksoon, why wont you answer me about your avatar? im beginning to think were having a problem. have i done something wrong?

Citrus has some issues with women lol...some woman must have REALLY fucked you over in the past....

Hmm Happinness is....

*a sweet romantic guy with a big heart and an even bigger d*ck...hahaaaa jk
*cheat days
*standing in front of the mirror naked and seeing that all your hard work at the gym has paid off
*driving at night on a nearly empty highway and listening to your favorite song over and over

But I think the ultimate happiness is when you dont want for anything more in life...

Cause I'm lazy (sorry)! I tried to post something but it was too large. Too many pixels, it said. I won't post my own pict (I'm a ghastly ogress. Small children see me and cry: "good God what is that?"*)

So I have to think of something that represents me!

That asterisk was to denote second reference (as far as I know!) to Princess Bride on this board. "To the pain...!"

Now I have something to do on this very thread. Be back in a jif--

Okay I'm back!

The business I had to take care of was deleting my responses to Dillon. This is the second time in 2 days he tried to bait me into some kind of flame war.

And I bit, to my shame. I got that Aries temper... and a redhead, no less.

If he wants to call me out for some reason (I can only fathom), that's fine. But I can't let myself match him, petty gibe for petty gibe. They say you should pick battles small enough to win and large enough to matter.

He of course doesn't matter. Though I clearly matter to him. (Poor boy's obsessed. ;))

So maybe that's my final answer to "what is happiness?". The knowledge that you did not sink and roll around in the mire, you didn't contribute to any nastiness in the world.

So Dillon, you're spared. My "rebuttal" posts was a couple doozies, though!

shrink them pixels in your microsoft paintshop. its easy.
what are you talking about, i thought your were a self-proclaimed cutie.
why do you have second thoughts about your responses? did you delete your poetry thread the other night?
anyways, get off your lazy ass and TCB!

I had to proclaim that because otherwise everyone would have jumped to conclusions. With my "history" (lack thereof), everyone would just assume: "well, she's obviously fugly."

So I just wanted to nip that in the bud and say that's not it!!

And I had to delete my posts because you know that really corny "mom"-type advice? When someone is picking on you, don't stoop to their level? It's corny, but still true.

Normally, I am queen of verbal brawls and skirmishes, but it's petty! And I'm trying to grow here!!

Anyway. Getting to work on dem pixels right now!

this is your thread,no harm no foul...so as the Vulcans would say..Peace be with you!

Fugly! There's the hunchback, the club foot, the harelip, the cranial elephantitis, the goiters, the hormonal imbalance resulting in Robin Williams-like body hair ... oh, it goes on!
