Hang clean form help

Something else that'll help in teaching someone to explode back and to get up on their toes: have them place the balls of their feet on two 10lb plates (one under each foot).

Has worked wonders for me.

To go along with that, you need to have him work the entire motion.

Do a series of hip thrusts, coupled with the shrug and calf raise. Start at the waist and then with each rep go lower. Do this 3 times and on the fourth do the lift (from the hang).

that's called a stiff armed clean pull

like I mentioned above :)
I read about it the Dreshler book, and it was suggested to me to fix my early arm bend problem. And it works, the key is to do it as the first rep of each set and then do the rest as per normal.

No problem, JJ. But my bf, ronin67 has a good suggestion, too.

Damn, CCJ: really wish you could have been at the oly-workshop of Christian's. Extremely illuminating. So much good info and tips.

I was taught to lean back just slightly so the weight travel straight up. A lot of people tend to lean forward so their shrug helps very little or doesn't happen.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Well I hope to make a few trips to a proper oly gym here where the national team trains, I would get some nice coaching there :)
