Hypothetically, saw palmetto extract could help prevent excess hair.
DHT is responsible for the development of secondary sex charactersitics, including but not limited to enlargement of the prostate and penis, and body/pubic hair growth (what concerns you).
5-alpha reductase is an enzyme that convertst testosterone to DHT. Without 5-ar, you would have much less DHT.
5-ar has two types. 5-ar type 1 is found mainly in the sebaceous glands. 5-ar type 2 is found mainly in the prostate and scalp.
Finasteride (propecia) blocks only type 2, but saw palmetto extract blocks both types.
Saw palmetto can be a good addition to any man's supplement arsenal. It can increase longevity by preventing BPH (benign prostate hypertrophy), it can possibly prevent hair loss, it can possibly limit problems with body acne caused by sebum, and it might even prevent excess body hair.
Anyone else agree or disagree with this?
