while outwardly amusing...

there may be underlying reasons.. perhaps he is recovering from cancer or other serious illness..

and.. at least he is in the gym..

though agree it is an amusing mental picture..

btw- for liability reasons many gyms do not allow under 18 patrons to lift without a guardian..

and who knows maybe the mom is a PT

agree with Macro....

and oh, would you find it amusing to watch my mom spot me with 405 on the bar.... You know, I might just do that -- and maybe I'll call her "mommy" too. ;)

Wise ass.

his mom was IN NO WAY a PT. She was overwieght and knew nothing about working out. Who knows the guy might have been recovering from cancer...but I dont see how that matters much. I guess there might have been a an underlying reason, but regardless, it was funny...I guess its one of those "you had to be there" situations. Oh yeah, our gym's age requirement for free weights is 16.

i really dont see a problem with it at all.....maybe i will take my mom in with me someday. i guarentee i wouldnt see anyone laughing. i just think this is a real imature thread.

:) This is amusing. However, I've known big guys who were afraid to take those first steps into the gym back in the day. At least this kid's going...

that just reminded me...I left out another funny part. The guy put on 2 plates (one on each side) and his mom told him not to overdo it and not to compete with the other guys in the gym. LOL!!!!!! Surprisingly, he was able to get up like 10 reps.

I know everyone on this board is a champion bodybuilder, but the average gym goer does not rep with 2 plates on each side (I'm assuming you're talking about 45s).

It would take a hell of a lot of balls to bring your mom to the gym.

I think that story is humbling.
