Hack into hotels "Video On Demand" System?

Just curious if it can be done. I have no idea how the system is set up I only know that a) There's a phone line hooked into the VOD box at the back of the tv. b) There's a cable going from the wall to box then from box to tv c) If I unhook the cable from the box and go straight to the tv, I still get regular tv, just no free movies.

Anyone help?
