so while i'm at work, i get into a discussion w/ a coworker about what our idea of healthy is, our take on muscles on guys & girls, etc. to give you some background on this guy- he's a total prick.. the cocky, thinks-he's-always-right, refuses-to-accept-another-persons-point-of-view type of guy. he asked me if i think "wow.. that guy must be so self-centered to work out so much to get big muscles" when i see a guy w/ a good body and i told him no, i think it's great when ANYONE cares about their appearance enough to devote the time and energy it takes to get there. there's nothing wrong that. :p

BUT he goes on to say that he doesn't think it's possible to have work out 5x/week and actually have a life. *insert expletive here* i told him that it's not a matter of "having time" to work out, it's whether or not you MAKE time for it. i told him ALL of the women on EF have a successful career, and/or family, and work out regularly (since he was looking over my shoulder at all the fabulous avatars that are up ;) ) i told him that i work out 5x a week and he just made this face that made me want to throw him across the room. "muscles on girls are gross... they shouldn't do that. wahwahwah." at that point i told him to leave cuz he was making me mad, so on the way out he just had to jeer and say "alright bye ms. i work out everyday" in this ridiculously condescending tone of voice. AAAARGH!!!!
:kaioken:

:fistfullo:

You'll experience these type of peps all the time. Ingore them (or do your best). I work with a wack of guys (219...only 13 women) they are all the same. I'm up in weight & flabby right now & they tell me I look better than normal

I just tell them all to eat me & eventually they stop.

Don't let it ruin your day (or change the way you think about training / dieting)

Oh....and when you are feeling really good make sure to flex for him...you'll feel better ;)

Two simple statements as appropriate:

1) You get out of your life what you put into it.

OR

2) You don't like it? Don't look at it.

Although "Eat me" tends to be pretty direct and to the point as well. Although the smile may confuse them a little...

Its sort of like when I sat in a weight watcher's meeting years ago at my work. I sat patiently waiting to discover the miracle of weight watchers, except after 45 min of listen to fat women bitch about their weight I realized I could've been almost done w/ a killer leg work out at the World Gym across the street.

STFU AND TRAIN!

Oh!! I NEED that Cluepon!!! Gonna have to save that one!!

I definitely can relate. I feel it is very difficult to be a woman and into bodybuilding. People who aren't into it do not seem to understand. Now that it is warm and I am wearing sleeveless clothes I have been getting so many rude comments. Like geez your arms are so big, or what are you trying to do, or are you on steroids? It is really insulting and I don't understand why people feel that they can make personal comments like that. I just keep telling myself that I am happy with myself and am continuing to reach my goals even if they are not what the general public would like to see.
