Lately, I've been getting told more and more by family friends that I look like my Dad. Since this has started happening, though, I've realized that a lot of the comments I make, and especially the way I watch sports, are/is very similar to my Dad's.

Just curious, especially for the younger guys here.

I'm 20; please let us know your age if you make a comment, too.

my dad-

1) owns a strip club, i'd never think of such a thing.

2) had an affair on my mom, i'd never do such a thing.

3) always thinks he's right, i just know i'm right.

4) sees his kids for about 3 hours a week.

5) chokes me if i get in an argument with my mom

6) is alcoholic, i dont drink

So, no. im nothing like my dad.

dad??? who is that? i've never met him in person... that is why he still lives...

My dad is cynical and analytical like me, but other than that, no.

20 here. Very similar to my dad aside from my proficiency with computers and those extra 20 or 30lbs I have.

-Warik

I would never fuck my mom. My granny though, she is another story.

As much as I hate to admit, Yes Im 180lbs from the balls up but my legs, like his, would better fit a Bird chirp chirp chicken:FRlol: :FRlol: :FRlol:

Physically - my dad's 5'10 #185, while I'm 6'2" #225
Philosophically - different views, much different generations

ONE thing we share is being prejudice. Prejudice against assholes. Which is one thing I'm glad I did follow in his footsteps...

36 here....I've already turned into my father!

I never thought it would happen, but it did.....

Ex.) Just the other day I wouldn't go to Starbucks because I'm not paying $4.00 for no damn cup of coffee. LOL

Its inevitable.......

My father is one of the greatest men I have ever known.

He worked his way thru college while supporting my family, and graduated with a 3.6 GPA in 3 1/2 years while being the only bread winner. He raised my family financially from poverty to upper midddle class throu hard work, effort and determination.
He coached every sport I ever played even while in attending college. He has never hesitated to tell me he loves me, or to give me a hug. He has been my greatrest champion, always emphasizing the fact that I can do or be anything I want to be. He is bright, insightful, kind and much more. He is the model of what I understand a man should be!

He has spent his entire life in law enforcement, and is highly respected in his field.

I only pray that I end up like my dad!!

Not that he will ever see this, but: I LOVE YOU DAD!! :D

I do everything i possibly can to NOT be like my dad, he left when i was 10, he cheated on every woman he has ever been with, he made my childhood a living hell, he was the crookedest cop in history, and last but not least, he threatened to kill my mom, I'm gonna get mine someday, oh hell yeah, (my little rant for the day).

Alright, I'm 33, but I'm gonna comment anyway. I don't think you mean "like your dad" in attitudes and experiences. I think you mean more like as in mannerisms and appearance.

Dude, I know what you mean. I started noticing them in my early 20s. My sisters have pointed out "little things I do" that are just like my Dad for years now. Many of my friends say I look just like him, but I don't see it really.

And those little gestures and mannerisms, they get more like pops every year, to the point where you catch yourself and can't help but laugh out loud (or cry i suppose). But yeah, I think it happens to many of us guys.

Badkins - You must be like your father, it is "tradition" AG

I'm 28 and each day I become more like my old man (except I don't drink)

My father was a good, decent man who treated all around
him with respect and dignity.
His word was all you ever needed, if he said he would do
something, he did it.
He wouldn't hesitate to stand up for what he thought was
right. No matter what others thought.

So if someone tells me I'm like my father, then I take that
as the highest compliment you can give me.

in voice

not in appearance particularly, hes overweight

not at all in mannerisms, he'd get very angry easily and get the shit kicked outta him because ive seen him punch and it aint pretty, which is different to me

in attitudes to life no as he see's life through these special glasses which filter out everything apart from his point of view,

as a person he's done some things which make me proud to be a member of the human race, and its not just me who thinks it

as a dad, hes been ok i guess but the ultimate decider is if i had a kid id try not to emulate my father.....im 19 closeish to 20

I'm looking more like him every day. He looked just like his father. Kinda weird knowing what I'm gonna look like as an old man.

I'm glad I'm turning out in his image. There's no other person I'd rather be than him.

Physically, no...not really. We have the same nose and jaw line, but he's fat and bald, I'm not (or at least not AS fat and bald, lol).

My dad and I arn't particularly close. I didn't grow up with him around and we speak maybe 3-4 times a year. We get along really well, but more like friends not like father and son.

I see a few negative traits that we share...I'm not too happy about that. And he has some attitudes/beliefs which kinda disapoint me sometimes. I woulnd't say I admire him, but I do love him...as odd as that may sound.

Some things

Physically we're similar - he was a boxer in college although he's much more of a good lookin bastard than I'll ever be.

Mentally I fear that there are similarities although his mother was a very mean person which led to his own and his sisters' appalling relationships with their spouses and children. I think I will never have children such is my fear that I could possibly visit the same violence upon them that my father has upon me (even though I broke a few of his teeth in adolesence). He's also got an unhealthy obsession with money which I don't - I just wanna be ok.

I try specifically to not be like my dad. He was and can be still an abusive person to me and my brothers.

I can't stand the idea of being like him in so many ways. I am not a person who can inflict injury on my family, but he is.

He is a genius, but I think that is not my forte. I don't expect to. He does.

I can only hope he dies happy with how he fucked up his life, his only real family and lastly how he is going to leave this world with his lack of character and leaving anything to his real family. Fuck I would rather be dead than to be like him.

Asshole.

im 17 and im stubborn like my dad and we both take no shit,so we are always at each other throat ,only differences are he is a prick for no reason at all, and i must be provoked, and he cheated on my mom and im totally against cheating on somebody,if you wanna fuck someone else get rid of the first person before hand

Oh yeah, I'm a lot like my dad. We look a lot alike, feature-wise, have the same mannerisms, all those sorts of things.

I grew up wanting to be like my dad. One of the reasons I work in computers now is because he got into it when I was a kid. I idolized him growing up. Whatever he'd do around the house, I'd follow him around, and ask him questions. When I work on projects around my house, a lot of what I know are things I learned from him. What I don't know, I have no fear of trying, because he didn't either.

I know I'm turning into my dad, and I realized a long time ago that there was no one better for me to turn into. He's one of my heroes.

I hope one of these days, I get to be a dad, and I'm as good at it as he is.

So, no. im nothing like my dad.

My comments to this:

1. It's a good idea. Why not?

2. So your saying you wouldn't have an affair with your mom?

3. Acorn never falls far from the tree...

4. Do you see his kids for 3 weeks???

5. What does he do when you have an arguement with him?

6. Don't you get thirsty?

I AM NOT MY FATHER !! How many time have I told you that? Just because HE came home drunk every day after work, doesn;t mean I have to. Just because he ended up losing everything doesn't mean I have to.

and so on.

I stopped blaming my problems on him years ago - that's when I became a man.

Alcohol destroys families and lives.

My dad was an immature alcoholic, and a passive pissant.

He was also a really nice, caring guy. Which let people walk all over him.

It's amazing how much our own patterns mirror that of our parents.

Just while typing this I realized that I insinuate myself into the passive role in relationships. I was putting up with so much BS in my past relationship but I enabled and created the monster I was dating.

It was so much like my parents' relationship it wasn't even funny. As dysfunctional and fucked up as their relationship was, and as cognizant of that as I was, I still recreated it.

Dude human beings are fucked up.

I hope to hell that I never take after my father; and if he's looking upwards and sees this board, the following is to you. I'm sure you'd have no trouble filling in the blanks!!

Dear Dead Dad:

You hated me since I was born.

And you disinherited me virtually the instant mom died.

F*** YOU!!!

May you burn in hell you slimy, rotten son of a bitching piece of s***!!

May you rot in hell you God damned motherf***ing prick!!!

May you eternally have to lick the s*** and c** off the jackal’s d*** that f***ed your mother up the a** to conceive you!!!!

You may have fathered me; but you were never a father to me, you evil, filthy, mean, cruel beast from hell!!!!!
