guy gets kicked out of the gym for grunting out a 500lbs squat..

you got to admit, every gym has those people that are "grunting" just for the sake of being noticed. can't fuckin stand them. i don't mean the casual effort grunt, i mean the grunters that you can hear at the opposite side of the gym. and the people that drop the weights too are annoying. if your so tough, why cant you just set the weights down?

Definately not a gym for the serious lifter. Oh well, they're losing at least SOME business from people watching that.
They are banking on it INCREASING their memberships and I bet they are right from what I see these days. I'm sure they spent alot of $$$ on a study that told them this is what people want!

I have several thoughts on this.

1. That is really stupid to have an anti grunting rule. I can understand a no swearing rule as families do go to the gym. I can understand a no screaming or excessive noise rule.

2. If you are squatting in a smith style machine you have no room to complain about what happens to you, especially if he uses the range of motion demonstrated in the video.

3. Take one look at the fat unhealthy looking twat who manages the gym.

4. No serious lifter would be caught dead in a fru fru gym like that unless it was the only one within a 50 mile radius of the home.

No good 4me then, I know when im on last set of squats I dont so much grunt as sound like a roaring bull. Aint doing it for attention just what hapens when im focused on a foo foo valve busting heavy lift with max effert. Always gota wipe the dam mirror down in front of me from all the spittle too, thats just nasty. Dont drop weights and Im religous about putting weight back where there SUPOSED to go not where some stick figure has left after there sets. :chomp:

I even grunt at home. How can one not grunt on a heavy set? I've even caught myself yelling "come on" at myself while trying to lock out a bench. There's nobody living with 50 yards of me so I'm sure it's not for the attention.

You do what you must to focus your energies.

That is the gym my father works out at. You are also not allowed to deadlift. Sadyl that is the gym whree i learned to lift. It used to be a really nice semi-hardcore Gold's.

A long time ago I had friend who was a serious OL and he joined a Powerhouse gym. The gym had just added a platform and bumpers so this made the perfect non-garage site since no other gym in the area had them. He was so psyched to get to lift in a gym after training in his garage all the time. Any option was a good one.

He pays up for the membership, tells the guy how excited he is about it and starts lifting on the platform. Once the sntaches get heavy enough he starts dropping the weight. The guy comes over and starts screaming at him about dropping the weight. My friend has no clue what this guy is yelling about. Thinks maybe he doesn't understand that bumper plates and this platform are explicitly for this purpose. The guy, who is the owner of the gym and purchased the damn equipment, tells him he can't do it.

My friend figures it's still better than always being relegated to his garage 100% of the time but wishes to clarify that he might occasionally miss and that will result in a drop. The guy starts freaking telling him not to miss. It was the shortest gym membership ever, friend packed his crap up and got a full refund.

Kind of like buying your kid a car and telling him no gas can be put in the tank.
