People Kill People WITH GUNS!!!!!
Guns don't kill people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm all for freedom, and agree its stupid people who kill, not guns themselves, but I also believe there is no reason to have deadly weapons in mass production for civilian use. Makes very little sense to me. Would make sense to have guns illegal within city limits. Make hunting grounds rent guns like ranges do. Take guns off the streets and out of homes. Maintain the hobby and sport of hunting if you wish, but for personal protection you are harming society more than hurting if you look at the average gun's top usages throughout its lifetime.

and the last time I checked, all of the people I know personally who have firearms haven't killed anybody.

It really is all about the individual. In Switzerland (where I lived for 6 years) EVERY MALE between 18 years and 55 years is REQUIRED BY LAW to keep a rifle at home; ready to use. The government issues these weapons and each male is required to go to a shooting range every year to keep thweir skills up.
Of course, every male between 18 and 55 is in the army, but the point is.......... it's not the amount of weapons in a society but the quality of that society.
Gun crime/murder in Switzerland is VERY LOW, like almost statisticly negligible.
I used to be very prop gun control but like so much of my politics, i firmly believe now in gun rights

Exactly, my .22 caliber rifle hasn't killed anything more than a target in the last thirty years. The only firearms I own that may have killed someone are a Japanese Type 99 short rifle my father brought home from WWII as a souvenir, the M1903 Springfield and .45 caliber colt revolver(non-issue personal sidearm) my grandfather carried during WWI.mountain muscle said:

if the kid did not have a gun he would not have been able to shoot all those people. without a spoon you can still get fat.

i don't know , how many people could he kill with a u-haul truck containing some gasoline and fertilizer? my point is an insane person hell bent on killing a lot of people and taking his life also can plot and plan for a long time and his killing device does not necessarily need to be a gun.heavy_duty said:

My father is an avid hunter. As a matter of fact, he is at his hunting acreage right now hunting turkeys. It is turkey season. He has LOTS of rifles, etc but no hand guns.Lestat said:

Every state has to do a federal check <NICS> for the purchase of a handgun.
If I remember correctly it it was included in the Brady bill. Virginia also does a State check in addition to the NICS.
