Guns don't kill people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm all for freedom, and agree its stupid people who kill, not guns themselves, but I also believe there is no reason to have deadly weapons in mass production for civilian use. Makes very little sense to me. Would make sense to have guns illegal within city limits. Make hunting grounds rent guns like ranges do. Take guns off the streets and out of homes. Maintain the hobby and sport of hunting if you wish, but for personal protection you are harming society more than hurting if you look at the average gun's top usages throughout its lifetime.

it does seem most popular in the USA

yes, let's punish everybody because a handful of people abuse firearms. Good answer!

the problem, little aap, is that is simply to easy to get a gun and extremely difficult to have a brain of the minimum size required to use it safely. There are simply to many indiviDUHals over there who have guns.

ya but they kill with guns moron

People with criminal backgrounds cannot purchase firearms. Did this recent Asian legally purchase a firearm?

and the last time I checked, all of the people I know personally who have firearms haven't killed anybody.

So again, what you want to do is punish EVERYONE because of a few bad apples.

although the idea is sound.. reasonable persuasion, our country was founded on the right to bear arms, not to protect ourselves from one another, but to protect us from our government..

so that the government would never be able to force us from our homes, at least in mass.. they can still do it if it is in the name of "law enforcement" but could you imagine the National Guard attempting to remove all *jews, or muslims, or christians, or blacks, or mexicans or italians, or any combination of these from their homes to send them to prison camps??

yes they did it to the Japanese, but the country was behind that panic.. may rednecks.. yea, lets go take all their guns away from them, they are too stupid to know what we are doing..

It really is all about the individual. In Switzerland (where I lived for 6 years) EVERY MALE between 18 years and 55 years is REQUIRED BY LAW to keep a rifle at home; ready to use. The government issues these weapons and each male is required to go to a shooting range every year to keep thweir skills up.

Of course, every male between 18 and 55 is in the army, but the point is.......... it's not the amount of weapons in a society but the quality of that society.

Gun crime/murder in Switzerland is VERY LOW, like almost statisticly negligible.

I used to be very prop gun control but like so much of my politics, i firmly believe now in gun rights

and then people say the Swiss don't have an army... :hecks: they give away guns for free!!!

btw, the whole thing is true, when I first heard of it, I founf it hard to believe, never trust the swiss

Just answer the question.

What question, which countries have had mass shootings?

Lots of countries have. What's your point?

Yah OK it happens all over the place.
I'll let you Americans believe that.
How Often does it happen in China, Japan, Korea, Scotland, England, Ireland?

You better post up some proof for that rediculous last statement.

Exactly, my .22 caliber rifle hasn't killed anything more than a target in the last thirty years. The only firearms I own that may have killed someone are a Japanese Type 99 short rifle my father brought home from WWII as a souvenir, the M1903 Springfield and .45 caliber colt revolver(non-issue personal sidearm) my grandfather carried during WWI.

There is too much glorification of violence in our culture.
I would admit that I watch movies where 'good guy' kills all the 'bad guys'. His gun keeps on shooting 35 rounds without needing to reload.

Media just shows us what we want to see.

blaming guns for killing people is like blaming spoons for rosie d. being fat.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
~ Thomas Jefferson

"Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest." -- Gandhi

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin

"But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one."
~ Jesus Christ [Luke 22:36]

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so." -- Adolph Hitler

If the war on drugs has taught us anything, it's that making something illegal and throwing money at enforcement doesn't solve the problem.

totally retarded.
if the kid did not have a gun he would not have been able to shoot all those people. without a spoon you can still get fat.

if he only had a knife and no knife training he would not have killed so many people.

as i posted in another thread, two of the deadliest attacks in this country were done with box cutters and a truck full of fertilizer. an insane person on a suicide mission will find some way to kill a lot of people .

Be totally honest.
How many would be dead if he only had 1 box cutter?
i don't know , how many people could he kill with a u-haul truck containing some gasoline and fertilizer? my point is an insane person hell bent on killing a lot of people and taking his life also can plot and plan for a long time and his killing device does not necessarily need to be a gun.

Your point is a valid one but doesn't change the fact that using a gun to kill a load of students is a class is a lot easier. Where there are deadly weapons easily available it'll be easier to kill and more killings will take place.

Please stop...

In Virginia , there are no background checks needed to purchase a gun...

My father is an avid hunter. As a matter of fact, he is at his hunting acreage right now hunting turkeys. It is turkey season. He has LOTS of rifles, etc but no hand guns.

He doesn't believe everyone should be able to get a handgun because they aren't used for outdoorsman activities and are only trouble lurking.

PLease do some research before you start spouting off.

Every state has to do a federal check <NICS> for the purchase of a handgun.

If I remember correctly it it was included in the Brady bill. Virginia also does a State check in addition to the NICS.

Thanks for playing.

Lots of people hunt with handguns. I need a handgun, I shoot competitions.

Banning them would do nothing. Stupid idea.

Dude relax

I got Virginia and West Virginia confused
