Some countries get poorer (us) and some get RICHER. Easy to do the math.

Book your flights. :)

will it change the flow of brazilians to the us? we are overrun with illegal brazilians in the metrowest area of MA.

Goldman Sachs, i think that is where it comes from, has been talking of BRIC ( brazil, russia, india, and china) as the ascending economies for some time now.

The boom has nothing to do with oil. Brazil is not very oil reliant, at all. WTF are you babbling about oil for? LOL.

they sell it for $$, they just hit two BIG deposits and are in the process of putting them online. They have no trouble comprehenmding the value of natural recources and how it can positively affect their economy. Seems to be a problem for some over here.

The rest of the world is catching. Items like wages are going to find a global equilibrium. Considering our wages are high, and theirs is low, their wages will go up, and ours will go down. The same holds true for everything else, like our standard of living.

There is a solution to this mess. Invade them. It has worked for 1000's of years. Unfortunately leaders who do that now are condemned.

Get used to watching your salary getting smaller and smaller and prices of goods to increase. The world is changing. Adapt or perish.

Diamond makes the point that wars have been fought since the beginning of civilization over resources in his book "Collapse". Now, we are too politically correct to do it but do you think the Russians or Chinese are? How about smaller up and coming nations if they see their neighbors have something that they want? Are we going to turn to the UN to resolve this? Could they? Will the people of the world accept mediocrity in everything and if you rise too high you will be taxed to level it back out? Seems that is where the world is heading with the exception of a few nations remaining strong and looking to get stronger like Russia and China... not US.

When things get bad enough, times will change. People turn 180 degrees when they are standing in breadlines, or starving.

We can only hope people will wake up before it gets to that but you may be right.

have any of you even been to brazil before?
it will be a long time before they are even close to our standard of living

You're confusing the sheeple view with the national movement. They were mobilized by high gas prices in the 70's and 80's to become energy independent. The US is behind Brazil.....
