grip?

No. But to develop grip I like heavy static holds (either with a barbell or on a shrug machine) and using gripper tools (e.g. the CoC from IronMind). Farmer's walks are good, too, though that's just a static hold while you're walking.

Static hold= Pick up a heavy weight and hold onto it for a specified amount of time or for as long as you can which ever comes first.

The same here. I will usually do my static holds after doing shrugs.

TONS of things there to get you going for a LONG time. Look for "Mastery of Hand Strength" by John Brookfield.

COC grippers are great. I purchased the trainer, No1 and No2 and I love them. My crushing grip has improved dramatically in a few months, just from playing with them. Deadlifts will help alot too, or just static holds or farmer's walks. If you want crushing strength Id go with the grippers. They seem to translate into holding strength as well.

I've deadlifted close to 800 lbs and I've never "trained my grip." I think the recent grip training craze is sort of silly, but that's just one man's opinion.

I don't ever want my grip to be an issue when lifting. Watching Dave G drop that 750 deadlift when he pulled it so easily really sucked.

I think Dave even said he was planning on doing some grip work in his next training cycle because of that. I agree if it's a weakpoint, train it. But most people's posterior chain will give out before their grip, I think.
