grip on board presses

In most of the vids I've seen, it looks like comp. grip or just inside, somewhere around the rings. Anyone use a closer grip? Opinions?

I use a closer grip on everything...usually I can stretch my thumbs out and cross the smooth part of the bar but I also do them to help my overhead press strength...not my bench press. I use this exercise to overload my triceps.

Thanks B. That's kind of what I was thinking. Even for bench, I'd be using board presses to overload my tri's. I guess with a wider grip I'd be able to handle more weight and be able to get used to being under a heavier load, making my bench feel lighter. So maybe I'll alternate between a close and wide grip. The close primarily for tri's and the wider for getting used to handling heavier weights and also tri's.

keep the grip in on boards, on 2 and 3 boards i keep my pinky about a half inch from the rings. and on 4 or 5 boards i have my pointer finger(is that whats its called  ) almost touching the smooth. i wouldnt go any wider than pinky on the rings, and the higher the board the more i think you should bring your grip in.
