I like Scorsese, Coppola and Tarantino too but Burton's movies are like million dollar paintings. Visual style master.

eat big, I always have difficulties comparing people (whether it is director, sporstmen, artists, politicians or wathever) from different eras

It was "easier" to have nominations in the beggining of the XXth century than it is now

Nevertheless, thx for the info :)

no problem, i too have difficulties not only bc i wasnt around then but also bc im not exactly how the movie industry has changed. some actors back then in the first 50 years of the 2oth century couldnt act in my opinion. some could.its hard to say.

I'd say just the opposite. Weird how we can think the exact opposite thing. Burton in my opinion takes on odd, unusual stories. Most of his movies are better for stories rather than directing as an art. Still does good movies though.

I guess my favorites would include Alfred Hitchcock, John Schlesinger, Woody Allen, Ridley Scott, and Stanley Kubrick.

Sophia or Francis Ford?
The daughter starts to be quite talented (still far away from her great father)
