Gay Davis passed a law that tripled DMV registration fees. I HAVE TO PAY $625 FUCKIN' DOLLARS FOR A 4 YEAR OLD CAR, THAT WOULD NORMALLY COST $225. If I don't pay on time, it balloons up to $800 FUCKIN' DOLLARS, AND THAT DOESN'T EVEN INCLUDE THE SMOG CERTIFICATION!!! HOW THE FUCK CAN I MOVE OUT OF THIS SHITHOLE IF I CAN'T SAVE ANY FUCKIN' MONEY?!? GAY DAVIS ROT IN HELL YOU FASCIST PIECE OF SHIT!!!

Only the controller can raise the car tax, and only then on a month-by-month basis, and only then if the state cannot write a check to reimburse local governments for lost revenues, and only then for the amount of the shortfall!

This situation did not arise and Gov Davis had a non elected appointment hack to enact the this power of taxation of with non representation which is illegal! And yet it is written into California’s constitution it prevents a court from issuing an injunction to block an illegal tax meaning it will take several years before the courts can stop him, even though it is illegal!

So a Voter Referendum is being created to stop the tripling of the car tax/fee! And in the mean time many hardworking families and small business owners will still have to pay and if they can not afford it I guess it just to dam bad because the wanna be King has spoken!

Davis had no valid reason to raise the fees other than to shore up his power base of Liberal Democrats by implementing more socialist programs, which in turn they will be expected to go to the polls for him!

California has 72 billion in Revenues, but Expenditures are out of control with Davis in control! He has the ultimate power over the budget and he caved once again! He only uses the line item veto for his own good not for the people! Until Davis stops grabing cash to support his stay in power it will not be stopped! So valhalla555 does have a valid point even if it was sort of incoherent! But you must give him some credit, "GAY DAVIS ROT IN HELL YOU FASCIST PIECE OF SHIT" was straight to the point!

Fascism/Socialism are related to the idea of paying fees to every conceivable action in society. A free libertarian state implements as little taxes as possible, those necessary to pay for the cost of government's enumerated powers: police, defense, courts, officials, etc. When government implements a fascist/socialist ideology, then taxation is expanded, at many levels, to cover the costs of the infinite social programs necessary to pander to the special interest groups.

Davis first rejected the idea when it was first passed by the democratically dominated legislature. Then he panicked and approved it when it was passed again as a desperate way to close the budget gap since people were bitching about that so much. Now they are bitching about this even more. Bad move on his part, but people demand this and then demand that and are basically wanting something for nothing which is retarded. They want more benefits and less taxes. That is nothing but idiocy. And then the government goes and tries ot acccomodate that to stay in power and then people bitch because they get what they asked for and now we are in a ton of debt we'll never get out of. Spoiled brats basically.

There needs to be some means of tying spending to amount of money on hand or in reserve so you cannot spend what you don't have no matter how many people are clamoring for it. Making sure there are these after school programs or free lunches or terrorism protections or whatever is all well and good except when you can't pay for any of it and it's all borrow, borrow, borrow. Sometimes you just gotta says, sorry, we don't gots no cash. I'd say Davis is responsible for about 10% of it, and catching 99% of the blame. I can't wait to hear Arnold stupid excuses when he does even worse.
