GPS on your cell, is it set correctly

I bought my 9 year old son a cell phone to carry for the GPS "just in case", you never know what can happen. It's actually A LOT more handy than I would have ever thought, stores, mall, playing outside, etc. BUT, I ass-u-med that the GPS was already "on" all the time, God forbid I ever needed it. His maybe fine, I'll check it at 11 when I pick him up for lunch, but mine wasn't, it was set from the factory to the 911 only, not the location. Please check your loved ones phones, I didn't know this....

The Importance of "*Location"* on Your Cell Phone
You may remember that a young woman was recently abducted from a Target parking lot in Overland Park , a suburb of Kansas City . Her body was discovered many miles away in Missouri . They were able to locate her by the sequence of cell phone towers that picked up her cell phone location. She had not attempted to dial out, but when her family was trying to call her the towers could sense her phone. Sadly, the authorities were not able to reach her in time. However, they were able to locate her body which was in an area where they never would have searched without the cell phone tower information. Below is information you may find helpful.

The cell phone "locator" can be either set on "911" in which case you must dial out to be located, or it can be set to be on all the time. With it on all the time you can be located by emergency services through the police if you fail to respond (sick, injured or worse). ALL cell phones have this feature. It's called Location. It's under the *"Settings" or "System" tool. Once you turn this on, THEN your phone is traceable (select "Location On" instead of "911 Only").* To stay safe, everyone should check their phone and turn this on!!! Please pass the word to everyone you know.

The more Brianna becomes involved with allll her activities, the more we are thinking of getting her a cell phone too. I'm torn.

I didn't have a hard time with it, he's too young to have many friends that would call all the time, plus the numbers can be blocked if need be, he has never misused it and he's had it over a year. We have to remind him to put it in his pocket when going to school functions, etc. We always try and make shure that he has it on him when we go shopping, etc. The stores are so big, I just go my own way and he and his mom go there's, it's easy to just call and ask what isle their on. It's handy, and the GPS thing...

So, you're saying that I should prolly take Bri's leash off when I take her to the mall and get her a cell phone instead? lol

Do you recall those "kid leashes" they use to sell? I would crack up when I saw mom's and dad's leashing their kids so they would not wander off in the mall.

I hear you. Bri is now getting into talking on the phone a lot right now. I can be glad it's her gf's and not those BOYS- EECK!lol
