No, he was Attorney General in NY state. I think he prosecuted some big Wall street cases.

Report: Spitzer Linked to Prostitution

NEW YORK (AP) - Gov. Eliot Spitzer has told senior advisers that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, The New York Times reported Monday, citing an anonymous top administration official.

Spitzer, who is married with three daughters, was scheduled to make an announcement Monday afternoon. Spitzer officials wouldn't immediately comment on the story.

The Times reported that a person with knowledge of the governor's role believes the governor is identified as a client in court papers. Four people allegedly connected to a high-end prostitution ring called Emperors Club VIP were arrested last week.

The Web site of the Emperors Club VIP displays photographs of scantily clad women with their faces hidden, along with hourly rates depending on whether the prostitutes were rated with one diamond, the lowest ranking, or seven diamonds, the highest. The most highly ranked prostitutes cost $5,500 an hour, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said the defendants arranged connections between wealthy men and more than 50 prostitutes in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Miami, London and Paris.

this wont be fatal - just embarassing and reduce what little respect people had remaining (his approval rating is in the toilet)

he's a corruption / good-government pontificator, not neccessarily a morals family values pontificator so the hypocrasy angle isnt there

If he committed perjury or engaged in a coverup during the ongoing probe into his attempt to tarnish bruno that would bring him down

$5,500/hour? man, that's some tight cooch.

I hope youre not suggesting he get a pass for this because he doesnt happen to push family values a lot.

You think this was the man that was pimping out R-Richard Curtis?

i could care less what he or any other pol does with his dick. UNLESS he says one thing and attacks the other side on an issue (morals etc) and then does the same thing .

what I'm saying is real-politik, it wont have much impact imo because of the l missing hypocrasy angle - I'm not the guy in charge of handing out passes

Seems like prosecuting prostitutes (as NY Attorney General), and then later soliciting them would consitute hypocrisy.

Pimp daddy Spitzer is so going to get his ass kicked. Deserves it after that retarded illegals license fiasco.

you got a point there - but he didnt campaign on ending prostition -- as many repubs campaign on saving the institution of marraige vs the evil gays and devil hollywood promoting promiscuity etc and then get caught in a men's room stall or cheating on their wife

iow, when you think "eliot spitzer", fighting prostitutes isnt the first thing that comes to mind lol

agreed. These men of high power seem to think it's ok running some joe shmo through the system for getting a $20 bj, but they get to shell out $5k for one hour? This goes beyond hypocrisy..........and mark my words, there'll be some republican names that come out on that "emperor's club" list. I hope all you republicans here give the NY times some credit for blowing this one open. Spitzer was "their boy"........so this took journalistic integrity to report on.

Now, if we could only get the pious conservatives to admit that men will be men...be they conservative or liberal.........maybe we can get prostitution off the books as a crime. The criminlization of this is SOLELY the work of they hypocritical christians in this country who have had a problem with sex for thousands of years. Enough. It's my free market right to walk up to a woman who is perfectly willing to suck me off for $20........and taking her up on the offer. It may not be a right I would choose to excersize.......but it should be there whether I do or do not. If I get the herpaleeze because "OF MY OWN ACTIONS"........than that's on me isn't it?......

dosent surpris me at all. Its so funny what goes on behind the scenes in peoples lives, not just political people........people in general

WHAT??? are you serious. It's a felony bro, loss of law license, etc...

High priced ladies, will lead to issues related to income and Tax, where did the money come from? He will have to testify in tax evasion cases now too...its endless.

You make enemies by prosecution be certain you will go down HARD.

What a dumbass.

Probably find out next that he was also trolling for trannies in his spare time.

OMG, that would rule if one of his high priced gals had a little extra baggage..wink wink.........LMAO

Ouchie, they alledgedly have him on Federal Wiretap! Now you know why he came forward and didn't deny...Film at 11!

wow, if you knew him when was attorney general you would be surprised at this. He was one of those guys who spoke like he was cleaning up the state. Ever since he wanted to give illegals licenses I thought he had lost his mind or something. I don't know how he could came back from this, this is marion barber terroritory.

Additionally, the affidavit notes that after her appointment with Client-9 ended, "Kristen" spoke with a Emperors Club booker, who said that she had been told that Client-9 "would ask you to do things that, like, you might not think were safe..." "Kristen" responded by saying, essentially, that she could handle guys like that.

Wulfgar is Spitzer?

going to a hooker is a felony? I doubt it.

but no matter, it looks like my initial assessment of the impact may be way wrong --- the local TV news here is playing this like as if he not only had sex with the prostitute, but decapitated her and took her head home with him in a bowling ball bag

story after story - angle after angle - interview after interview ("its interesting when people die, give us dirty laundry") asking if he'll have to resign etc

the initial investigation was alledgedly for misuse of funds, people were wired, I wouldn't call that a misdemeanor. And he had her delivered to DC bro.

Oh yeah, you forgot he spent a good time of his career as AG investigating and prosecuting prostitution.

the only story I read was patronizing a prostitute, and that wouldnt be a felony -- if it goes beyind that into diverting state funds to pay for it, thats a whole different thing - then it wouldnt matter if he was buying apple pie he's still fucked.

p.s. I'm no spitzer fan.

in the words of Animal House, he fucked up - he trusted them!

situational ethics

Don't get me wrong... I'd be a huge fan of situational ethics too as long is I was the only one who got to assess the situation.

you guys like those thundering moral absolutes. no shades of gray. easy to grasp. no need for thought. comforting.

Yup, looks like he has(is) negotiated the governorship for a lesser charge...but so much for his future in politics (or in law).

Joe Bruno is dancing a jig right now, but he's up next

spitzer was the only one who could have made bruno seem like a sympathetic character lol

Bruno's got to wait his turn.

Naw... as long as I'm the one who interprets "the situation", then situational ethics works just great for me.

In all other cases, I'll probably just have to stick with "right" and "wrong".

Exactly. But remember that I've never campaigned on moral absolutes hence I don't have to stick to them.

I'm guess the comparison between post #15 and post #53 blew right past you. No worries tho. Remember that just because you aren't politicing against something doesn't make it ok to do it.
