Got turned away at a club last night

Got to a club last night at 1am, the bouncer says "you can't come in, doors closed"
So i ask him what time the door shuts and he says "1, and my watch says 2 mins past "
Fucking power tripping retarded prick (not a generalisation of bouncers, just this one)
As if they have enough business on a tuesday night to be turning away customers?!?!
Anyone else have trouble with over-zealous(read-ARSEHOLE) door staff?

I use to be a bouncer and at 2:00 I would shut the door and turn the line away or whoever might be trying to come in. One more person ment one more person I had to boot out at 2:30..oh joy.

how true........and those people always seem to be the assholes of the bunch!! but for $50 i would do it if i were still bouncing.;)

It wouldn't have hurt the dude to be more polite, but I wouldn't take it too personally. A lot of the time, we've had a long, sober night, and have been dealing with drunks for hours. We may have just had to throw down a couple of minutes before and our adrenaline and aggression levels are still through the roof. I've had this happen many times and I can bet that the people I dealt with directly afterward did not think I posessed the nicest demeanor. Just last Saturday, I was working the door and it was about five until two. The other bouncer was trying to herd everyone out. A group came to the door and I said "We're closed.", rather brusquely. One of the guys in the group said, "I've never been here, and now I never want to come here." as he was turning away. Only then did I think, "Damn, I would have a really shitty impression of a place too if I were spoken to like that." But at the time I didn't mean anything by it. The bouncer who turned you away may have just had a long night and been a bit annoyed that you were trying to get in so late. Or he may have just been a prick. Either way, I wouldn't sweat it too much.

I see what you guys are saying, but the place is open til 2:30/3AM and the bar is open til 2, i suppose you do have to have a cut off point, but it's not like there was a queue and we were only a couple of minutes over, it wouldn't have hurt him to have a couple of extra people in there. Especially as it's their quietest night of the week, and it was my mates last night visiting me.
I know of this guy outside of bouncing (he lives near me, uses the same shops, takeaways etc) and i thought he was a prick b4 this incident.
To be honest though, he did me a favour cos i'm at work today and would have been a wreck if i'd been out til gone 3.
No disrespect was meant to anyone who does door work, the majority of bouncers i've encountered through working bars and going out are cool.
