Got a letter stating that I may be eligible for a settlement

I received a letter from the district courts of California stating that my previous employer with whom I still hold shares in recently went through a settlement process for something.

It states that if I purchased or acquired shares between a certain date, I could be eligible for a piece of this settlement. I acquired shares during these years but they were given to me via yearly merit adjustments and also when I was hired. Would I still qualify for such a thing?

I have no idea what I am reading when it comes to stuff like this so I was hoping someone could help me out as I could use any additional funds that I can right now.

Veritas gave me a free tshirt for upgrading my Backup Exec once, but they sent me a L instead of an XL. I think I deserve to get in on this settlement.

It would have been a nice tshirt, too, if it had been the right size.

That's what I assumed but didn't want to start filling it out before I got confirmation.

Having read them all, I don't want to be a downer, but....

You can expect to get pennies on the dollar for the value of your investments. But something is better than nothing, especially if you were not expecting anything in the first place.
