Got a call from a head hunter today..

Lestat

They needed to place someone fast... Data Warehouse expert..

First 3 months would be a contract, no benefits, but 93K a year salary ($45 and hour).. after that it turns into a permanent position at 80-85K...

Only problem for me is.. its in Memphis Tennessee.

I don't think I'll pursue it, but I requested a detailed description of the position anyway.

if anyone is into tcf, nt admin, etc. shit and wants a $120k job in afghanistan for a year for the us gov't. let me know. tax-free!!! :)

dude are you going to ozzfest this year? Those fuckers raised the ticket prices and are not doing a San Diego show now!

Slayer, Priest, Black Label, Slipknot.. sounds like heaven for supernav

you should take it.

Memphis is a good time, make the money, (assume you make ~60K now from previous posts) save what you can; a post-election raise in interest rates drops house prices quite a bit and then go backto CA in a year or two.

Or don't.

If I were in your situation I'd do it.

cost of living there is hella cheap.... chances are you would not want to drop the cash to move back to Cali after getting used to it.... it will be more expensive than when you left when you return...

that said I would do it, but that is just me...

Fuck...

I do make around 60K now..

but I've got stock options with a 6 figure value.. they are just not all vested yet....

I also like working and living here.. its a very tough call.

The idea of a new place is exciting though too..

options are cool, new place probably won;t buy them for you or match them....they also are worth precisely dick until vested, agreed though call.

i dunno if i could give up san diego for anywhere in the appalachia. Seriously you should visit it sometime, once the blues novelty wears off you may not like it.

i wanted pit, but my bros can't afford the prices. but i'm sure we'llf ind a way down there. w e always do. :)

right, because if you live in Memphis you are not allowed to travel at all.

Of my 2000+ options, I've vested a quarter of them... the rest will be full vested in under 5 years.. not a short amount of time, but not a terribly long time.. they vest monthly so I am able to exercise as we go.. so far I've held on to everything though and its paid off....

That's the huge bonus to this... with the reduction in living expense and the increase in salary my disposable income will go up immensly.. the cost of travelling will be an afterthought.. its more of the time it will take to get places.

I have 15,000 options in a failed dotcom.....I think I can stop holding my breath in a month or so.

LOL, 90k is not the kind of time/money exchange that allows or requires a private plane.

I am stuck in Jacksonville FL (OK not stuck, I am incentivized tremendously to stay but you get the idea) and the social life sucks. Every weekend I leave...so often that I bought two condos out of town just to stay elsewhere.

Memphis is a pretty fun city. Look into it.

You might want to get one of those Honorary Negro cards before you go. Memphis is 60% black.
