GOP ticket in 2008

Longhorn85

New member
Let's face it, 2004 is in the bag, none of these clowns stand a chance against W. The real question is, who will be his replacement?

I see the following as GOP contenders in '08:

Jeb Bush
JC Watts
John McCain
Colin Powell
George Pataki
Tom Ridge

Best bet? I say a Jeb Bush/JC Watts ticket would be awesome.

To me, Dan Quayle represents everything the GOP stands for.

I think Bobo the performing chimp would do. Or maybe an inanimate object? Like an ashtray formed out of Llama shit?

Who cares? A Republican in office means more Democrat issues being implemented. Bush has done nothing impressive save grow government at an enormous rate, something Republicans "claim" to oppose.

Wake up and realize that Republicans and Democrats are the same, they are statists.

let's take a look at W(MD's) resume shall we?

George W. Bush Resume

Past work experience:

Ran for congress and lost.

Produced a Hollywood slasher B movie.

Bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas, company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

Bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using tax-payer money. Biggest move: Traded Sammy Sosa to the Chicago White Sox.

With fathers help (and his name) was elected Governor of Texas.

Accomplishments: Changed pollution laws for power and oil companies and made Texas the most polluted state in the Union. Replaced Los Angeles with Houston as the most smog ridden city in America. Cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas government to the tune of billions in borrowed money. Set record for most executions by any Governor in American history.

Became president after losing the popular vote by over 500,000 votes, with the help of my fathers appointments to the Supreme Court.

Accomplishments as president:

Attacked and took over two countries.

Spent the surplus and bankrupted the treasury.

Shattered record for biggest annual deficit in history.

Set economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12 month period.

Set all-time record for biggest drop in the history of the stock market.

First president in decades to execute a federal prisoner.

First president in US history to enter office with a criminal record.

First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in US history.

After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, presided over the worst security failure in US history.

Set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips than any other president in US history.

In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their job.

Cut unemployment benefits for more out of work Americans than any president in US history.

Set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12 month period.

Appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in US history.

Set the record for the least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television.

Signed more laws and executive orders circumventing the Constitution than any president in US history.

Presided over the biggest energy crises in US history and refused to intervene when corruption was revealed.

Presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history and refused to use the national reserves as past presidents have.

Cut healthcare benefits for war veterans.

Set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously take to the streets to protest me (15 million people), shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind. (http://www.hyperreal.org/~dana/marches/)

Dissolved more international treaties than any president in US history.

My presidency is the most secretive and un-accountable of any in US history.

Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history. (the 'poorest' multi-millionaire, Condoleezza Rice has an Chevron oil tanker named after her).

Had more states to simultaneously go bankrupt than any president in the history of the United States.

Presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in the history of the world.

Created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States.

Set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, more than any president in US history.

First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the human rights commission.

First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the elections monitoring board.

Removed more checks and balances, and have the least amount of congressional oversight than any presidential administration in US history.

Rendered the entire United Nations irrelevant.

Withdrew from the World Court of Law.

Refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners of war and by default no longer abide by the Geneva Conventions.

First president in US history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 US elections).

All-time US (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations.

My biggest life-time campaign contributor presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds in world history (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation).

Spent more money on polls and focus groups than any president in US history.

First president in US history to unilaterally attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community.

First president to run and hide when the US came under attack (and then lied saying the enemy had the code to Air Force 1)

First US president to establish a secret shadow government.

Took the biggest world sympathy for the US after 911, and in less than a year made the US the most resented country in the world (possibly the biggest diplomatic failure in US and world history).

With a policy of 'dis-engagement' created the most hostile Israeli-Palestine relations in at least 30 years.

Fist US president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability.

First US president in history to have the people of South Korea more threatened by the US than their immediate neighbor, North Korea.

Changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts.

Set all-time record for number of administration appointees who violated US law by not selling huge investments in corporations bidding for government contracts.

Failed to fulfill my pledge to get Osama Bin Laden 'dead or alive'.

Failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder the leaders of our country at the United States Capitol building. After 18 months I have no leads and zero suspects.

In the 18 months following the 911 attacks I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States.

Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history.

In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the US has ever been since the civil war.

Entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.

Records and References:

At least one conviction for drunk driving in Maine (Texas driving record has been erased and is not available).

AWOL from National Guard and Deserted the military during a time of war.

Refuse to take drug test or even answer any questions about drug use.

All records of my tenure as governor of Texas have been spirited away to my fathers library, sealed in secrecy and un-available for public view.

All records of any SEC investigations into my insider trading or bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and un-available for public view.

All minutes of meetings for any public corporation I served on the board are sealed in secrecy and un-available for public view.

Any records or minutes from meetings I (or my VP) attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and un-available for public review.

As much as I hate Bush, the majority of this post was shit. What the hell does his losing a Congressional race mean? Or producing a movie? Not to mention the insinuation that his being in office is causative of various economic problems, makes one look very stupid.

Stick to real issues and not trivial crap.

i agree those first two aren't very important. i didn't compile that list, nor do i take credit for it... as far as his economic policies... WOW, they are laughable! "we've got a lot of really smart economists working on this"... right...

I know some clown on another board absolutely convinced Condi Rice will run and he plans to vote for her. I say he's on crack. I'd vote for McCain and/or Powell. The rest of those ass hats (dunno much about Watts) can take a hike.

My novelty is I'm only going to run online.

And I'll use an animated version of myself for debates, or possibly have Triumph the Dog stand in for me for live appearances.

Then when I win, BAM! First black man in office!!

I agree...this is just more liberal BS. The sad thing is that it makes people who use worthless crap like this as a point of reference look foolish.

Replaced Los Angeles with Houston as the most smog ridden city in America.

Yeah Bush did that.

You're right. The magic ferry did that. It had nothing to do with removal of environmental protections by Bush as governer or from increased environmental protection by Davis as governer.

No, but the power shortages in Cali had everything to do with Davis' failed policies. That is why Davis is unemployed and Bush is president.

Cut Taxes
...for the rich.

Defeated Saddam
in an illegitimate war that did not have UN backing.

Led a rare "off-cycle" election victory for the GOP and secured both houses
yes, and this is an oddity due in large part to 9-11

Continues to improve the military
and we need this because??? iraq might invade us???
we already run circles around any military.

Started us down the road to privatization of medicare
are you referring to the prescription drug plan that is HIGHLY debated? that doesn't take effect until 2006 (post election). yeah let's throw money at drug companies and call it good.

Will Cut Taxes again
for the wealthy...

Doesn't give a crap about the UN
and you're proud of this because??? he's a rebel cowboy that does what he wants regardless of what the world thinks???

Doesn't give a crap about France
???

Defeated Saddam

Agreed.

Led a rare "off-cycle" election victory for the GOP and secured both houses

And what has this accomplished? As stated before, the Republicans are spending money faster than any Democratic administration, and for socialistic policies, such as Prescription Drug Plan.

Continues to improve the military

Does not negate the idea of excessive spending, nor does it negate the idea that he is implementing the Democrat's very platform.

Started us down the road to privatization of medicare

Will believe it when I see it. "Started down the road" means nothing. This is like saying, "Well I was gonna do that."

Will Cut Taxes again

I hope so, but how is he going to offset his superspending spree?

Doesn't give a crap about the UN

A point I respect him on.

Doesn't give a crap about France

Who does?

Ended partial birth abortion

Another point I agree with.

Has appointed conservative judges

The major appointees he will not support, he throws them to the wolves.

I see a HUGE difference between Republicans and Democrats. Are you sure you know the difference?

Yes, Democrats are fervent socialists, while Republicans are reluctant socialists.

Bush also placed tarrifs on steel imports, thus increasing the price of steel for our steel using industries.

He also allowed for the passage of the Patriot Act and will not stand in the way of any future Patriot Act II.

Allowed for the Department of Homeland Defense to be created. I see no mention of this Department in the Constitution.

Passed the Prescription Drug Plan, which will increase social spending to unknown amounts.

One of the few things I respect of him. It matters not what you think of the war, this idea that we are bound to the will of foreign countries is ludicrous. The consensus of the masses does not equal truth, if a million men say that the world is flat, does not make it so.

Again, I don't like Bush for reasons stated before, but these leftist arguments are weaker than Strom Thurmond's bladder.

Cutting taxes is even better than reducing spending because it gives congress less to spend. If they have it, they will spend it.

Are the dept of Education and HHS in the constitution? Homeland defense consolidated like functions under one title. Hopefully eliminated some redundancy. The constitution does call on the feds to protect.

As I mentioned earlier, the medicare bill starts us on the slippery slope to privatization. Would you rather we were going in the other direction? It's not perfect but it's a start. Re-elect Bush to see more of the same.

Stick with the topic.

Look at the topic of this thread and realize that you are the one who is off track. You tried to credit Davis and discredit Bush for the state of Houston and LA. You failed.

Ummm...I don't see the idea of "real" funds slowing them down.

Deficit spending is not good, it must come from somewhere.

Are the dept of Education and HHS in the constitution? Homeland defense consolidated like functions under one title. Hopefully eliminated some redundancy. The constitution does call on the feds to protect.

The Constitution grants Congress few and defined powers. HHS, Dept. of Education, NEA, etc. are all extra-Constitutional creations, they are not legally provided for by our law. They are manifestations of usurpation of power, given authority by a government which cares less about Constitutional contraints.

As I mentioned earlier, the medicare bill starts us on the slippery slope to privatization. Would you rather we were going in the other direction? It's not perfect but it's a start. Re-elect Bush to see more of the same.

Actually I see it providing the stimulus for the slippery slope TOWARDS socialization of healthcare. Show us how it will prevent this. I see nothing in the opposite direction.

I have demonstrated how Bush is not helping America, simply helping his party. This is why I don't care for his presidency, nor support the Republican party. They are simply statists in "small government" rhetoric.

Ah yes, but to say that Bush single handedly replaced LA as the most smog ridden city is absurd even by most liberals' standards.

If Republicans are synonomous with conservative, then I am not conservative, which I don't claim to be.

I know that the candidate of my choice is not going to win, but I don't vote to appease the masses, only to appease my conscious.

do you understand the role of the UN? i don't think the slave master analogy makes any sense regarding the functioning body of the United Nations.

as far as the cut taxes for the rich analogy even WMD himself admits that he cut taxes for the rich... i didn't even realize this was still being disputed... WOW.

This statement has been made lately and I would love someone to explain how a socialized system will enrich the pharmaceutical companies? Please elaborate.

let's see, there are no price caps on drug prices in the new drug program. our government will be paying high prices for drugs that could be aquired by cheaper means(ie Canada, what some states are doing). even the commercial supporting it states that "it may not be the best plan, but at least it's something." (something to that respect). drug company x, "let's charge y for this drug"... government, "whatever you want."

as far as the cut taxes for the rich analogy even WMD himself admits that he cut taxes for the rich... i didn't even realize this was still being disputed... WOW.

He cut taxes for all INCOME TAX PAYING individuals. If you don't pay income tax, because you fall below the income for filing or you receive all of your taxes back and possibly more, due to earned income tax credit, what should we do? Give you more money?

let's see, there are no price caps on drug prices in the new drug program. our government will be paying high prices for drugs that could be aquired by cheaper means(ie Canada, what some states are doing). even the commercial supporting it states that "it may not be the best plan, but at least it's something." Price caps are economic travesties, basic economics teaches this. You cannot cap the price of something, when the costs of business fluctuates. As costs increase, the manufacturer will simply not produce what is needed, due to low profit or go bankrupt. This is what occured with the vaccine industry. Government intervention has forced most companies to go out of business or out of the vaccine business, due to low profits, thus we have 2 major companies, who could not meet the demand recently.

Price caps decrease drug innovation and research. This is where the bulk of costs go, and reducing profits reduces how much a company will spend in R&D, thus we suffer in the long run, when we don't have new treatments for illnesses.

The idiocy of the common man is his belief that companies simply pull a number out of their ass to charge the public.

No body works for free.

seems like canada can come up with a way to keep drug prices reasonable... why can't we?

Either you didn't read the whole document or you don't understand the concept of rights. The document starts out sounding good until you get farther down, where it begins to claim "group rights" and "social rights", such as right to free education, right to social security, right to unemployment benefits, pregnancy rights, "standard of living" rights, etc.

These are not rights, but priviledges. There are no "group rights", only individual rights. You have no right to anything which lays claim to the efforts of another. You only have the right to pursuit of ends, not the demand of their goods.

But the crux of this document is embedded at the end:

Article 29.
Section
(3) These rights and freedoms may in no case be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.

and he really cut it for the wealthy, so they can dump their money back into their businesses thus creating jobs... hmmm, something about giving the most benefit to the rich doesn't sit well with me.

You don't like the idea of creating jobs???? What the hell is wrong with this idea? Not to mention, that since income taxation is progressive, it is by default that those who pay more receive a larger refund. I don't know why basic reason is beyond leftists.

seems like canada can come up with a way to keep drug prices reasonable... why can't we?

Because the taxpayers subsidize the extra costs of healthcare in Canada. You only see the little costs that come out of pocket, you don't see the extra costs that comes out of your taxes.

you'll have to forgive me, i've been in bed the past few days with the flu... damn drug prices are crazy now adays...

Actually you can thank government intervention for the problem of the vaccine shortage. Another lovely side effect of government regulation.
