Good Book "Junk Food"

Stephen King is great for light reading, so I picked up his "EYES OF THE DRAGON." It's a great book that i'm still in the middle of. It depicts a medieval time where a plot to kill the king involves his beloved son and his closest advisor/wizard. It's wickedly done and classic SK.

I highly recommend it, if you want to escape all the serious bullshit. It's just a cool book.

Yeah, that is a pretty good book. Holy shit, you have good taste?! I'm shocked. :D

Stephen King used to be sooooooooooooooo good. His earlier stuff (It, Different Seasons, Pet Semetary, Shinning, several others) were flat out brilliant. He was on a bit of a downworld spiral for a few years there but he seems to be coming back to form. Maybe that mini-van knocked some sense into him. :) LOL

Btw, I remember listening to a speech by a visting Harvard Literature prof. He said that in 500 years, people will talk about Stephen King the way we talk about Shakespeare now. I can see that happening.

I totally agree with everything you just said. I've read all but three books by SK and he did seem to hit a bit of a lull. I'm still anxiously awaiting another installment of the dark tower series...

Did you read Rose Madder yet? Please tell me it's not another "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon".

I've read all his books. I usually get the newer ones withing a week of thier release....you could say I'm a big fan. lol

Rose Madder is a few years old....I think it came out in '95. It's ok, not great. Better than the other books he was writing at the time though (Geralds Game, Deloris Claybourne, etc,)

Btw, do you think the Dark Tower stuff seems to be invading all of his stories these days? Like EVERY book he's written in the last 5-8 years has dark tower shit in in it. Even the Talisman sequel became another Dark Tower add on. Personally, I find it kind of annoying.

Sadly, I think King hit his prime a few years ago -- His work was far more interesting when he was usuing cocaine on a regular basis. :) Then again, even when he's mediocre, he's still a better storyteller than 90% of other writers.

Stephen King has incorporated parts of the dark tower series before he even began his dark tower series. He makes mention of it in several sources. It's supposed to be his crowining achievement. I personally love it.

I never got around to Rose Madder. That's why i ask. I usually read his books right after he releases them, too. I missed a couple of odd ones like Eyes.

I do wish he'd go back to his drug using days, too. Some good shit was coming out of that.
