Going to HRT Doc Help!

Bigred77

New member
I'd appreciate any feedback bc I'm very nervous to jump into something like this. Going to see HRT Doc next week!

Stats:
33 yrs old
285 lbs
28-30% BF

Blood work:

Total T: 212
TSH: .58
cholesterol: 209

I got my blood work done bc I was wondering why evry time I start a workout regiment, I get sick! Cold/ FLU. Or I just have such little amount of energy during the day that I just quit working out.. I take my multi every day and eat 4-5 good meals a day to meet my Macro/ Calorie requirements..I'm at a loss!! I can't lose the bodyfat I want to bc I can't stay healthy long enough to lose it.

MY Questions:

1: could the total T be so low because they drew my blood at 4pm?

2: My GP was not concerned w/ my thyroid reading, but it is on the very bottom of the norm range.. Should I be concerned w/ it?

3: What are some red flags I should be aware of to know if this Doc is a Quack or not?

4: Questions I should ask him?

Any responses would be appreciated!!!!

First thing you need to do is get your diet in order. The best workout plan in the world will fail if your eating crap.

Stick with lean meats of all kinds, plenty of good fats from olives, avocados, nuts etc. Plenty of fresh fruits and veggies but avoid starches such as rice and potatoes. One of the most important things you can do is simply cut out sugar and processed foods including grains which includes bread and pasta. Dairy for some can be a real problem also so its something you may want to experiment with but it can wait if need be.

My guess is in addition to low T you probably have high E as well. Cleaning up your diet should help a lot with energy and give you a more consistent blood suger level, Make sure to get plenty of sleep.

Id really concentrate on dialing your diet in over the next couple weeks and then ease into a workout plan.

TRT docs that want huge sums for continued office visits or "plans" are generally way over priced. If they wont come clean and tell you what everything costs up front then walk away.

Thanks for the reply ZYG..I'm not sure if your advising not to get on TRT yet or not..I am currently on a pretty 'clean' diet but not losing much weight.. I'm eating between 2700-2900 cals (20% below maintenance if my math is correct) a day w/ my only carbs being 1 cup of oatmeal in the morning.. Maybe I should eat an orange instead of oatmeal..Feeling Sluggish! Maybe I need more fruits?
This Doc accepts my insurance so I'm not concerned bout the $.. I just would like other opinions on whether I should be on TRT and what kind of dosage and a sane doc would prescribe? Should he run another blood test considering my blood was drawn in the evening last time? I heard that my testosterone reading will be higher if tested in the morning.. I haven't heard anyone specify how much of a difference? Also, anyone think that I could have thyroid problems with a .58 TSH reading? Thanks again for any input

In my original post, I forgot to include my AAS history:
in 2005 I did 6 weeks of test cyp 400mg/T3..I forget how high I went w/ T3. Stopped abruptly bc infection at injection site landed me in Hosp for 3 days! No PCT! never even heard of PCT! Shot up to 280lbs and stayed there until I did a cycle of winny bout a year later.. Scared of shots, so I thought winny would be safe! Got down to 250lbs but no PCT again!! Shot right back up to 280 and I am still there, even a little heavier.. I was so crazy just taking stuff that I had no idea what it was or what it could do to me! I'm thinking this could've messed up my Thyroid..Just a little more info for some quality feedback! Thanks
