Glutamine & Acne

New member
Hi Ladies,

I have recently started breaking out like crazy, my face and even my back a little. I have been blessed with oily Italian skin (sarcasm), but these breakouts are different....my face is covered in (continous) tiny little pimples, mostly below the surface. You can feel them, but only see them in the 'right' light. I made an appt with a derm, but last night it dawned on me.......I recently added Glutamine to my pwo shake. Could this be the culprit? Has anyone had this problem before?

The breakouts began when I added the Glut, but at the same time I also added:

Lev
t-rex
Glucorell
arginine
Tyrosine

Any feedback is appreciated
Heather

I have never heard or glutamine being a problem with acne. Are you under anymore stress recently that is a majour factor for break outs. Another thing could be if your not washing you face right after working out or not getting out of youe gym clothes right away that could be a cause to. Any other changes in your diet or anything along that lines.

Hi-Thanks. Hmmm I'm baffled b/c I know that there is something 'different' about this acne. It's not my typical post workout or pms breakouts. I did some research and I found another fitness board where a few people reported acne after glutamine use. I think that there might be a correlation between the two in some people. if so this really sucks!

Diet? Stress? Environmental changes?

Although you read Glut has caused this with others, that does not necessarily mean there wasn't other factors to contribute to said breakouts no matter what they say.

Regardless, everyone is different...
Maybe your having an allergic reaction? ... why don't you conduct an experiment taking the glut OUT and seeing if your skin clears up then go from there?

Thanks Bunny, I think that's what I'll have to do...experiment. I was just wondering if anyone else had had this issue.....

I haven't had any probs with the Glut - BUT I had a face rash when I was taking Prolab Cuts II + Lipo 6 fatburner + Radical Fighters. I no longer have the bottles for any of them - so I'm not sure of the ingredients.

I think I am going to take it for another week or so, complete a full month and then take two weeks off...see if my skin clears up. I'll def. keep you all posted.

Ive heard that Whey causes acne in some people as well....perhaps it's that or a combination of the two. Either way I'm screwed...cause I don't wanna stop taking them.

Well I have been off of Glutamine for a week and my skin has cleared up....considerably. Looks like I may have a slight allergic reaction to it. I'm pretty bummed because the benefits in just one short month were noticeable. ANy suggestions? Do you think Glut gel caps may be a better option?
