global warming and eugenics, an interesting read

The Skeptical Environmentalist-by Bjorn Lomborg. Buy it ,its a good book that will de-bunk the whole global warming myth for you. It actually has facts in it to back it up. Any major book store will have it too.

Yea, reminded me of the book "State of Fear" where the author highlights many similarities between early 20th century eugenics and global warming, "politicised science".

BTW, I'm not trying to be rude in any way. When I suggested that read, it was because you seem like you're a little more open to information and FACTs than some other people who are just quick to believe Al Gore who refuses to even debate the issue with noted scholars and scientists.Knowing the real state of the world is important, because fear of largely imaginary environmental
problems can divert political energy from dealing with real ones. Here is a link to a page with some hard facts that I think you will find VERY informative.

that's possibly the worst article I've ever read. The comparison being made is superficial........I was expecting something with meat, somethng substantial. What I was given was a mealy mouthed feckless rendition of the smokescreen. The correlations are spurious at best............if there's more, let me know, I'll read it. But that was terrible. Comparing the theory of global warming to eugenics based on absolutely nothing...........it's only purpose was to introduce the idea without any substance.........so as to initiate the unintelligent to make the unfounded correlation in their minds. Ridiculous.

ok, I read a couple pages in the first link. I can't read all of it because I'm off to the gym and then it's Halo 3 time tonight. But anyway, one thing that struck me is the contention that we'll just use oil, and therefore we'll always just open more oil fields as needed. It seemed to really be contending that oil is an infinite resourse, that would be nice........but it isn't valid. I don't have a link right now, but it was an article about where there is oil left in the world. And this was a "pro big oil" article written by a miscessian economist.......google "ludvig von misces" if you don't know. Anyway..........the article pretty much admitted that we've pretty much tapped the last of the vast oil reserves close to the surface. The article got pretty excited about the oil beneath the ocean's surface. It then went on to contend that the free market will try to find a way to tap that ass when the need arises. So what y'all are arguing is that "of course" someone will come up with a technology that could drill up from ocean depths of 1 mile min, in alot of cases 2 miles. I cringe greatly when I read that...........because you're "hedging your bets". A comprehensive energy plan cannot be based on the assumption that technology will accomodate us when current specialist in the field shake their head and say that even if the technology existed it would be so astronomically expensive that it would invalidate the whole endeavor. One guy I remember was saying that conditions at those depths rival if not surpass conditions in outer space in some respects. I think we'll have better luck mining the moon if we found fuel there.

Weird. That article was both far-left and uber-conservative at the same time.

yeah but there are a ton of ''debunking''s done of that book... I like MC as an author, but that book is kinda meh.

Conservative estimates by the "experts" put us at 30 years tops before we run out of easy to get oil. Also, it seems that the receding glaciers have exposed some resource rich land as well. I can only conclude that global warming is caused by Jesus to keep us supplied with black gold until his second coming. That is all...:)

dood, our country peaked in oil production 37 years ago. Most other countries have also. Most of the easy to get oil is gone and has been for a long time.

Dood, most oil is not gone. So our country peaked in oil production in 1970? In 1970, about 17 billion barrels of oil were produced. In 1980 22 billion barrels were produced. 1990 about the same, 2000 25-26 billion.

FACTS don't play sides in politics. Did you look at the other ones listed orbly?

yeah, and now we have 10x the wells we used to to produce 1/3 the oil. What's that tell ya? Harder and harder to get. Peak Oil may be alarmist, but even the big Gawahar field in Saudia Arabia isnt producing what it was.

Regardless of if most of the oil isn't ''gone'', using maximum recovery methods only gets you around 2/3 of what a well is predicted to have.

True, and yes I looked. However there is a difference between piecing together the truth and merely more propaganda. Ahh hell it seems like nearly everything meant to be informative is propaganda.
