Ok I am single right now and today I got a phone number from a girl I go to college with that is way out of my league. She's smoking. The phone number was just to help her with homework, I know she doesnt like me - we seem to have alot in common and I know she just broke up with her bf. I was contemplating calling her as I know nobody likes to be alone on v-day... But I didn't. Should I just forget about the crush on her and be homework helper?

Help her with the homework, but add a little charm (just a little, mind you) and see how she reacts. If she ignores your gentle flirts then stick to the homework. If she just broke up with the BF I'm guessing that the last thing she wants right now is another relationship... rebound sex, maybe.

Why is she out of your league? Just because she may be more attactive than you doesn't mean she's looking for Brad Pitt. You see attractive women with average joes everyday and vice versa. Having things in common and enjoying each other's company is more important.
