girl dilemna....

ok, some chick i know is kinda all over me, but there is a problem here...she is really religious.

she has a pretty cool personality (from what i've seen so far), very intelligent, good looking, not a whore (which is super rare), ambitious, yada yada yada, but she is really religious.

don't get me wrong, i have my personal religious beliefs, as well, but it's awfully hard to adhere to them at times...

i know i'm going to feel like i am walking on egg shells the whole time when i'm with her. i mean, no off-color jokes, no profanity, no decent music/movies, etc, etc. already i am having to make a conscience effort as to watch what i say and do.

what should i do?

Why I'm perplexed, I always assumed oyu were religious. I guess because of your conservative tendencies.

So, how do you feel about changing who you are for someones acceptance of you?

I don't think you can keep that act up for long. Might as well have a discussion with her and tell her that you don't share the same beliefs. You may get dumped, but it will save you from a lot of pain in the long run. You never know, she may see it as a challenge to try and change you. Which she won't be able to do. I don't know, that's the best I can do. Being phony has never worked for me.
 
I got no advise, but I wish you luck if you try to pursue her.
 
i'm gonna tell you not to bother. if you can't be yourself, it's not worth it. being somewhat civilized is what thing, but if you significantly have to change how you act, and who you are...

i've tried it enough times to realize that i would much rather be with a chick who completely accepts me for who i am.
 
I have some advice, I've been in the same situation twice ...
Don't sub estimate her, you can be surprised.

And the other thing, especially if she is an intelligent girl (I don't mean cool, just with lots of working brain), is that many of this girls are really tight with rules that deep in their mind, they really would like to break, they play all the time like a mental dilemma game that gives them satisfaction and make them suffer as well.
They are then, like a can o coke you have been shaking for a long time. Is about to explode, but it cannot do it by itself. If you open it ... wow. :p
 
Talk to her about it, tell her your views and beliefs and see what she says. You will be no worse off than you are now if things don't work out, in fact you may garner some insight into her type of beliefs.
 
be yourself....if it doesn;t work out so what, she might actually enjoy having a different personality around

someone mentioned changing for someone and if you really think about it thats what life is about, change! nothing stays the same. when you started working out it was to change, to grow, to be better then before. if you went to college it was to change and to grow, to better yourself. now if we can do this for ourselfs without outside influence why can we do with a positive outside influence,, its seems to me it would be a little harder but it would get you past a (for lack of a better word) plateau in life.
they say the key to relationships is compromise, I think that this is where most of us myself included lose the real meaning of the word compromise. should we make just any old compromise to be with someone? NO!!! that always leads to trouble in every case. we must make the right compromises to grow in to a relationship. to change the core person inside would be death of your soul, to change little things that guide you in life is where the pot of gold is.
In my case, I am a musician and alott of women for some reason see my guitar as a evil being covering me. if I were to compromise and give it up the relationship would be over at that vary moment. should we might be together for a year after but it ended a year ago and we both just lost a year of our lives. this is what I am it can't be changed. what can be changed in order to grow with someone would be my effort to make time for them. I might have to redo my practic times or take an extra day out of the studio in order to make it work
if your into her go for it, don't be afraid to be yourself cuz in time she will see it anyway so why do it. just make the small and "correct" compromises and above all else talk to her. putting up a front is fine when you first meet someone but after that you gotta be who you are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
she never told you she wnats u to change..... talk to her and be yourself, see what happens. she likes u for a reason

Dude, I have been in this exact situation...it worked for a while. Sometimes I think these two blends of personalites can work, as long as neither is too extreme. Luciano was right on, this could be a deeply hidden sex freak. Maybe she will become a bit more open minded and you will become more intune with religion...def. worth a shot...




btw I cannot imagine you marrying a liberal chic...this gal better be a staunch conservative... ;)

I think that all girls want to have sex, some have just been screwed up by stuff like religion to think it is wrong, so you have to relate to them on a different level before they can feel free to do dirty things

I rarely found religous women to be overly concerned about their boyfriends religous stance though exceptions exist.

The girls in my old church group rated ambition as being most important to them.
