Fishermen found it along the coast of chile

Fishermen found the 39-foot-long carcass of a sea creature on a beach in the south of Chile, and conservation specialists were trying to determine if it was an octopus.

The creature, believed to be of the species octopus giganteus, was found near Los Muermos, 683 miles south of Santiago.

The remains weigh about 13 tons.

Elsa Cabrera, of the Cetacean Conservation Center, said that similar animals have been found recently in New Zealand.

Cabrera, who is a specialist in submarine photography, took samples of the creature to send to Italy, France and the United States to determine its species.

The find was originally believed to be part of a whale, but its size, texture and even the smell point to an octopus.

That's a big pussy.

jeez.....thats fucking scary

they moved an octopus from its smaller tank to a bigger shark tanks in some american aquarium recently (i think boston) and were afraid the sharks would eat it

it killed most of the sharks single handed....imagine what c=somthing that size is capable of :xeye:

looks like the beach by my house. If I saw that thing there I would....well, probably just stare at it for a few minutes to be perfectly honest.

Octopi's sterength lies in pulling, not pushing. I'm thinking it would definitely win an upright row contest with a gorilla. especially if it were held underwater.

I believe that's the very same giant octopus which co-starred in "King Kong vs. Godzilla".

I wonder if he still gets royalties.

That looks about the size of my dump (give or take a pound) after a night of booze & late night chinese food.

Good point.

So, you figure it would smoke the gorilla (or Agasi for that matter) on the following lifts.

Lat pulldowns.
Shrugs.
Pullups, etc.

Wonder where the heck has that thing been hiding ?? Surprised it didn't attack fishing boats out in the deep ocean....Maybe its responsible for the Bermuda Triangle Mysteries

what about something with pushing and pulling, like power cleans?

Actually, I will let you in on a little secret.

The octopus in question was actually at an underwater powerlifting event and went for a combined squid/octopi world record for a power clean.

He didn't make it...

I think it was a normal octopus, that got into powerlifting and did lots of GH, and juice!!!!
His death from these drugs might however indicate that he moonlighted in the AWA.... Aquatic Wrestling Alliance

I hate the Media, they have not even figured out what that is yet, some guy stated he thought it might be an octopuss, another said a rotten whate carcas, until DNA tests are performed they are unsure what it is.
