Getting Gear after Sept. 11

This may have been addressed already but I thought I'd ask anyway.

After the Sept. 11 attack has it been harder to get juice? I'm wondering specifically if the Mexican borders are tighter. I need to purchase and don't know if I'm gonna run into problems.

Is it dry out there?

the borders are tighter which is slowing down most domestic. customs is taking awhile to process packages so many of us have seen delays on getting our foreign goods.

My last domestic package took 8 days. It used to take two.

Mine are only taking 2-3 days after the time they are shipped. Some guys might be blaming the mail for their screwups or delays.

in my previous experience - express domestic, and regular forgein...

is that still the way to go? it just seems domestic, the less time it is in the system, the better. I avoid it overseas so as not to draw attention and be part of the larger group...

Actually IronFist, the guy sent me a link to his hometown newspaper. They had an Anthrax scare at his post office. I guess stuff sat around for a little bit afterwards.

It is starting to dry up.

Here's how it was explained to me.

At the Mexican/US border they are/were searching every vehicle as opposed to random searches. This has made them average 75 vehicles per booth per hour as opposed to the typical 300 vehicles per booth per hour (before 9/11/01).

European suppliers aren't really affected by this, but domestic suppliers (typically of Mexican gear) are having trouble getting their gear from Mexico because it's so much harder to get the gear into the US. This is why the domestic suppliers are taking forever.

The actual US postal system is slower than usual, but the real problem is in getting the Mexican gear across the borders.

Hope this answers your question.
