Getting fat during bulking

Grotto

New member
I'm in the middle of a bulking up without roids, and I've noticed that I'm really packing on the fat too. I got 8 weeks left of bulking.

I dont know if I should change my diet or start to really up the cardio. I dont mind doing the cutting up but its going to take me longer with this extra fat. Anyone got any ideas???
Grotto.

Your question pretty much answers mine.
I have a minimum that I always get daily, but I think I'v gone overboard.
100 grams protein from powder
1 can tuna
6 Oz cheeze on my choice
1 cup rice
3 cups milk
2 banana's
2 oranges
4 glasses juice
Al the veg I can eat
1 Tablespoon Flax oil
4 slices of bread or 2 w/w buns
Plus I gotta be honest, I been having about 2 cheat day per week.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but you are on a "bulking diet," correct? I know this phrase has been beat to bloody death and back, but its freakin hard to bulk but to maintain a small waist size (ie. not gain fat).

The words of "bulk" and "diet" are kinda of an oxymoron.

Well, if your daily calories intake is too much for your body, u will develop fat storage. Sorry dude, but unless you're on T3/CLen/whatever metabolism booster thingy, you're gonna pack on the pounds if you're gonna eat like a boar.

But hey, get big, then diet, and u be shredded and buff and all da girls will love u : D

I have a suggestion, that might slow down those fat gains a little bit.

What about instead of fruit, add natural peanut butter and whole eggs to your diet, bro? Less sugar. Less empty calories.

I'm gonna have to at least cut the fruit juice.
I'm definatly getting beefy and I'v got 8 weeks
left in my bulking. some dietary changes are a must at this point.

U took the words right out of my mouth. It would actually be wise to have SOME fat to "cushion" yourself during those times when you're not eating or are late for a meal.

Not all pro bodybuilders have perfect abs during the off-season.

Bulking means you will add fat - by definition- which of course you will lose if you bulk. Why not just eat about 300-500 calories above maintainance and build MUSCLE not bulk???? There isn't a tissue called "bulk' anyway- bulk is muscle and FAT.

Whether or not you are bulking you should seriously include some animal protein here. Why do the cardio if you can simply modify your diet by lowering the saturated fats a little. You might have done better to include your height, bodyweight, total cals per day, %macronutrient profiles etc.

I prefer to use hypertrophy diet when refering to increasing muscle mass and not bulking. And you should be aiming to increase bodyweight by 1/2 to 1 pound per week. Which is the equivalent of 3500 calories, divided by 7 days. That will give you and additional 500 calories above your maintenance diet to consume per day. Which of course is divided into ratios of say 50/30/20(C,P,F), but the preference is entirely up to you.

In regards to cheating:

I know lifters that have 1 cheat meal a week, 2 cheat days is too much. At most, have one moderate cheat day. Moderate - meaning don't gobble every simple carb and saturated fat in sight.

Hey Grotto, you can shoot me an email with your exact diet plan, and all your stats. I think that with a few modifications, you'll slow down your fat gains.

Later bro.

Good advice HeavyDuty. I too am worried about upping my fat while in this bulking phase. I am probably at 18% but want to get to 14% by Memorial Day. Upping my cardio right now during bulking, I can't afford an increase in bodyfat content, and must definitely reduce it as of April 25

I would cut the juice man, keep the juice for breakfast and maybe for a creatine transport. Be sure you are breaking up your meals into at least 5 a day. Constant meals broken up throughout the day keeps your metabolism up. Try consuming some carbs towards the end or your workout to promote insulin release.

As far as "bulk" & "diet" being oxymorons, I don't think so. The term diet as far as eating is concerned, means to have a certain routine, such as a menu.

Sorry if i sound offensive here but that is quite possibly one of the worst bulking diets i have ever seen. When you think of bulking you think of steak, roast beef, chicken, fish, and maybe even protein powders for protein and loads of carbs and some good fat.

That diet has very little 'good fat' and doesn't seem to have much in the way of complex carbs.

There doesn't even seem to be enough there for it to be an actual 'bulking diet'. I have no idea how you are gettting fat.

If that is all you eat in a day then i bet your calories are very unevenly spread. You'd be suprised that spreading your food out evenly over the day then you can increase your metabolism.

My advice: get more protein from whole food sources (such as the ones stated above)and less from powders and eat more carbs! Well actually, only eat more carbs if you are not eating enough calories. If you are getting enough calories already then don't worry about getting fat, it goes with the territory. It can all be taken off when you diet.

Actually, just on a loose estimate, that look like around 2600-3000 calories. 6 ounces of cheese is a LOT, so are 3 cups of milk. 4 slices of bread is quite a few calories from simple carbs, etc. I look at that diet, and I think I'd be hungry. I eat like a hog now, though, and feel pretty stuffed most of the time, and still probably clock in around the same number of calories a day.

I dunno, just an observation.
