Getting bloodwork done in the u.k?

Can any body point me in the right direction?..cos im pretty sure my doctor would freak out if i told him i wanted to know if i had recovered after steroids use...is there any other way to do it?

many of my athletes use these: Hormone Testing Kits

Most of the home kits are so inaccurate it isn't even funny.

The only one that has been proven accurate is for beta-hCG, or home pregnancy.

Your GP will do all the blood work for you if you give him the right symptoms

- tired all the time - thyroid function or TSH
- loss of libido/lack of morning erections - testosterone, oestradiol
- think you have developed some breast tissue - prolactin/progesterone

He will probably also do a few other typical tests such as a liver function test (LFT), glucose and a full blood count (FBC)

A lot of English GPs are quite relaxed about steroid use, they know that it is happening.

You may want to try a different doctor in your surgery, or ask some of the lads in the gym if they have a cool GP and transfer to that surgery.

Thanks for the advice guys....gonna try tatyanas first...im sure theyl still know thats its steroid related but so what if i can get that stuff done for free on the nhs and save my hard earned cash who cares haha.

I am not sure about that, it really does depend on how clued up your GP is.

Some are fantastic, some just don't keep up to date.

If your hormone levels are really dreadful and you are referred to a consultant endocrinologist, you may find that they are far more receptive/open minded and clever about not putting anything in your records that could compromise you in any way.

I know our medical records are meant to be confidential, however there are sometimes issues with getting life insurance or other finacially related products that medical records have to be investigated.

If they give you a form to be bled at the hospital, you can always tick the boxes you want or write on a few tests.

When he is ordering your tests, just check to see if he is noting what he requested in your notes.

Anyway, he may not say much if you get a few extras.

:)

You won't get it done on the NHS and i would advise against using your own GP. I am assuming you have NOT got a script for the meds you have been taking and suspect some are even UG products which are illegal in the UK so would go somewhere else that specialises in this work

Here in Canada I'd just go see my doctor if I wanted to get blood work done, not sure exactly but not many people in my city are doing roids. I think they move to the bigger city's.
