Getting a job as nightclub security?

Not sure if this is the right forum for this but I was curious about what it takes to find a job as a bouncer at a club? And dont tell me being a bad ass. I mean how do you find the jobs and what exactly are the qualifications other than being a badass?

I was a head of security in a bar for 2 years, and when hiring,I looked for someone who was confident, has great people skills,is sure of themselfs, not intimidated, trustworthy, honest, has the ability to defend themselves but the temper not to turn it around and beat the fuck out of someone who gets rough with them, you never hit a customer.

those are the basics

check out www.moraysecurity.com they have a doorman message board there

Find out who runs the night. Normally there is going to be a promoter or manager that either runs the place outright, or is in charge of certain nights. Try to meet this person and see what happens. I met the promoter of a club once and he ended up asking me if I would bounce for him because of my size. It wasn't my thing so I declined. Good luck!

Bouncer jobs...

You have to know a guys, who knows a guy. Thats the way into 90% of the Night Club jobs.

You don't need to be a bad ass or anything, just have people skills and be able to walk a drunk guy out the door without ever getting physical.

It certainly is a case of who you know. Just being able to fight isnt enough either. Control and restraint techniques are used more than fists. How to protect others is equally important and isnt readily taught in the dojo.
Knowledge of applicable laws is a great door opener. Liquor licence requirements, use of force as the law states it, this knowledge will save you and the bar if a lawsuit comes along, because you would have followed it. we have used it and we are free and not in jail like many of our counter parts. Knowledge of the law and self defence are equals with personality and professional demeanor.

Finding the right team is a hard part though. each member must have all those skills. and fucking the girls isnt professional either, same with drinking at the place you work, even after hours. work and play should not be confused. It isnt all glamour, but if you get a good club, with a good boss, and professional staff- its beautiful.

well despite the bullshit you heard as a kid about education and training, 90% of getting any job is who you know
