if the military wanted people that bad, they would've kept my step-daughter's father (well, not technically my step-daughter). they refused to let him re-enlist after 8 years of service in the marine corps. the reasons were 1 courts-martial for derliction of duty and he failed inpatient alcohol rehab twice.
his courts martial - he walked off his OOD post for almost 10 hours on a saturday, 1/2 hour after he did, the CO, 1st SGT, XO, and company Gunny showed up for the day. the PFC on post with him said he went to go tour the barracks (which was legit). after they had been there for 1/2 hour, the called the barracks, no sign of him. another 1/2 hour passed, they went and found someone else to hold post. 6pm he shows up and i guess he almost shit himself when he realized all the top guys were there waiting for him. they ordered him confined to the barracks for the rest of the weekend. then, later on that night, he goes out drinking. they stopped by the barracks looking for him and he wasn't there. come on, how fucking stupid do you get?!
what really pissed me off out of the whole thing was all he got was a reduction in rank and some pay taken away from him. they could've (and should've) done a whole lot more. i got more punishment for less while i was in.
reason he failed alcohol rehab the first time was they found out he was drinking like a fish and not attending his AA meetings during the first year afterwards. that's part of the stipulation of going into rehab. i'm not sure if he went into inpatient treatment a second time, but i know he was in some form of treatment and failed again.
guy is a complete shitbag, but i think if the military needed bullet catchers that bad, they would've kept him around. that's all he was good for anyway. he was in Iraq for 8 or 10 months, but from what i heard wasn't anywhere near the front lines. wish he would've gone to the front lines. he was hated by everyone that knew him.....see where i'm going with this?
i violated the rule of "never fuck with another man's car" when he was supposed to have his NJP (before they sent it to a courts-martial). he had a sergeant decal on his windsheild. he was awaiting NJP, we were leaving the compound. i took a knife to the decal and cut the top 2 stripes off of it, reducing the sticker to a Lance Corporal sticker. we figured that's what was going to happen to him out of all of it. he drove around with it like that for 2 days before he noticed
actually, i didn't fuck with another man's car. he was (and will always be) a spineless bitch. to call him a man degrades everyone else that has testicles.
