There are several current mods that mod and or admin at other boards but your rules for nominating say that new mods can not be? What gives? It is not there fault that another board snapped them up before you had the good sense too.
I say we have a vote on this let the people of elite speak....

I appreciate the feedback and will certainly consider making an exception for the right person. In the past we had problems with Mods using their position here to do all kind of strange stuff - so that's what we're trying to prevent. I was kind of weird to have Mods here also moderate other sites where they thought this site and I were Lucifer the anti-Christ.

.

george,

just pick mods from people who actually have some qualities and expertise on some subject matters relative to this site, not whoever is capable of generating the most mundane and stupid posts on C&C day after day, or who tries to have the most 'provocative' avatar on the site.

i think having those who have been here longer should definitely have preference, and no, i'm not saying that because i have been here for a long time. those with seniority just know this place much better and have contributed much more.

toodles.

You refering to the exodus no doubt. I can't blame you for being a bit gun shy because of that but please don't let the actions of a few affect the chances of another.

WHAT?! That was the whole reason I went plat.. to get in good with the anti-christ.. damnit! I'm always gettin' screwed over.. :chomp: ;)

and i agree with george.

if you are a mod at another fitness forum, you shouldn't be a mod here. if you want to be part of one site's staf, be dedicated to that site and that site only.

plus, quite a few of the mods on other boards know jack shit, and simply got there by kissing the right ass or from their 'status' over here on EF.

So should current elite mods that mod at other boards have to step down?

they should choose which one they would rather be a mod at, yes.

this is a business, and if you want to be part of the staff, you should expect to be loyal to this site and this site only. it's business.

do you think any other business on the face of the planet would be alright with you working for them part time and their competitor the other half of the time? that's just asking for problems.

i also remember some mod(s) here sending copies of the mod forum from this site to other users to post on other fitness sites. where is their loyalty?

the rule was instated and there were already mods that were mods at other boards, those mods were grandfathered in, exceptions to the rule.

Really, no mod here should be a mod at another site. This site is big enough and has enough memebers to keep people busy. Plus, most other fitness sites are really competitors.. they sell the same products through the AF store, it would create a conflict of interest.

Do you think they would let you be on the board of directors at McDonalds if you were already on the board of directors at Burger King?

so, the moral of the story is this;

if you are a mod at some wanna-be EF type fitness forum, which has an 1/8th the members this place has, 1/5th the traffic, 1/10th the content, and 10 times the clueless morons, and you want to be a mod here at EF, then maybe you should step down from that site to meet the requirements the owner of this site has.

god damn man, i agree with you, but shit, you got your nose DEEP in Spellman's ass right now!

But the "conflict" of interest is still there.
but the rule was created and they agreed it would only affect NEW mods, not existing ones... its a common practice in business. They do it will cell phone plans a lot, you can keep your existing cell plan in place as long as you want, but new customers have to use one of the new plans.

For example, my evenings start at 7pm, because when I purchased my phone plan that was the policy, however someone new signing up for Verizon today would have their evening rate start at 9pm! They probably don't like it and would whine about it too, but it doesn't mean they'd change my plan.

i'm not ass kissing at all, i'm just saying it like it is. i have been to some of the 'other' boards, and you have exactly what i just said there, and that is exactly why i haven't been back.

instead of trying to be new and innovative, they just copy their competitor and then piss and moan about it non-stop.

secondly, the whole 'mod thing' is just one giant clique throughout the internet fitness forum world. everyone who seems to have some position or title at one site has the same thing at 2-3 others. so, you wind up with the same people and their same bullshit at every site you go to; very little changes.

plus, i don't see why people have to constantly piss and moan about how someone runs their own business. if it is such a bad idea, let the market speak for itself, because if it is really as 'stupid' and 'bad' as people say, the business will lose money, which doesnt seem to be the case here.

when have i ever kissed any ass on this board?

...closed as George has seen it and the issue is being discussed already
