Gas prices in the Riverhead to Hamptons, NY

Fucking BIG OIL and their Lobbists all need to burn in fucking hell.
There are plently of alternative fuels out there that need to be made more widely available. Especially E-85 (85% ethanol - 15% gasoline). Ethanol is a fucking renewable resource (from corn for those who didn't already know.) Shit the gov't is paying farmers not to plant. Fuck that, get them fuckers planting more corn. Screw the fucking big oil industry.

The best one I have is that I met a guy who does work for the Department of Energy and we were talking about how the DOE lets its scientists hold the patents to what they develop. However, private companies, like ummm... BP, does not. Which means that the fucking genius that developed a method to convert regular water into a fuel source, can fucking tell anyone because BP owns the patent. (For those of you who don't see the how water can be a fuel source... water is made up of what? Oxygen (which is needed for combustion) and Hydrogen (remember the Hindenberg.) Either there is a mechanism or an additive that is used that breaks up the water and then introduces the two in the proper ratio to the cyliders and sparkplugs of a car engine.) So ain't that a bitch. :finger: :redhot:

its called supply and demand. and it works in theory as long as three perimenters are met. one, you have to make a product that people will buy. two, people have to act rational. and i dont remember the third one but thats not important. its number two that is. people ARE NOT acting rational. they bought SUV's and moved to the suberbs 45min away from work. and more importantly, they continue to buy the gasoline at whatever price it is. go figure.

i work at the largest BP refinery. and i will tell you what i was told when i asked why gasoline is so high. going back and forth about limited oil or gas supplies, and about day traders falsly pumping the price on fear and speculation, he told me plain and simple, we charge so much because they'll pay for it.

so whats that tell you? consumers ARE setting the prices. that is fact. you can figure the rest out.

Are you kidding?

I am 35 miles east of Riverhead - there is a 10 cent difference between southampton and riverhead that I know of right now and I'm not close to southampton, so unless you're out that way the $1.70 doesn't pay. It's 70 mile round trip travel to save 10 cent a gallon?

I'm in the boonies not by you.

You won't being paying 2.79 for long.

portable gas tanks
buy them before they start to go up in price as well
you can find them for cheap on ebay
i have 2 50 gallon tanks left over from the boat that i plan to fill up
make sure whatever you buy is clean(new) on the inside if it is old or has been sitting chances are theres water/sediment in that tank and you dont want to put that in your car :worried:

No way. For regular?

ACK I knew I should have filled up again today.

That mobil is always a rip off! When I worked in Southampton I avoided it like the plague...

Try driving a little further West...maybe Manorville or Hampton Bays. I can't remember the name of the one I use to go to all the time out there....

If it comes to me, I'll let you know.

Went up 80 cents today acrosss the board (reg, mid grade, super).

$3.69 for regular almost $4 for super.

You ran into the same problem we did. The pipeline serving your area was closed because of the storm. Gas prices here went up 50 to 60 cents in a span of 4 hours. :smash:

It's not so bad for me. My boss lets me fill up my tank with the company credit card once a month and that lasts right at 2 weeks, so I only pay for half my gas anyway.

I'm jealous. Full tank lasts me 4 days (18 gal.), and I have to run premium. No expense acct. cars suck.
