dear gambino,

i finally went to do some good mornings as you reccommended, to help in my quest to deadlift 440, but they looked too uncomfy, and i couldnt bear the thought of being in that arse-out position on YOUR say-so...so i thought 'fuckit!' grabbed the bar and deadlifted 440 anyway, just to spite your silly exercise

with any luck, if i keep up my strength gains, ill be able to lift your mom off the floor all by myself. please pass on the good news :)

gm's are just one of many good dl assitance exercises. hyper-exts are good as well. anything that hits the hamstrings good. just repeating what peeps have told me :mexican:

I was deadlifting 500 at sixteen.....true....but I'm jerking your chain. Congrats on hitting a new max! :)

If you're talking about those old-school Arnold style GM's, those won't do much for your DL. They won't let you carry much weight, either, and your risk for injury is great. Look into Westside or Metal Militia training and see how they do GM's. Those are the staple of my leg/back training with squats and box squats coming second. If you want to improve your DL numbers, DON'T deadlift. There's far better exercises.

This is from the view of a PLer, but regardless, if you want to excell at one of our lifts, listen to how we do things. Likewise, if, for some silly reason, we wanted to get unproportionally large biceps, we'd listen to the BBers. Eh, lol, actually no, we wouldn't. We'd just squat more. But you know what I mean.

The worst part is that I only lifted weights in high school when I was forced because I played football. I was 190lbs and 10% BF at 17 and didn't really lift but I could squat and deadlift over 500 lbs with a 285 max bench. I'm a genetic freak when it comes to lower body and back strength. I had tear drop quads at like age twelve; I look at a squat rack and my legs get bigger.. :evil:

When I joined the Army I always maxed the APFT and ran 20k in under 67 minutes but my weight dropped to around 175...people said I looked "sick" or "emaciated" at that weight.
