gaining weight & muscle

Hi my name is Latrese and I have always been a thin person I am 5'6'' and I usually weight between 120-125. I once got up to 145 with the help of a presciption and I lost it again. I never really worked out and now I would like to build muscle and gain weight. I feel I lloked my best @ 145 but I want it to look good not flabby please help :)
 
Check out the training sticky at the top of the page, then ask whatever questions you may have......you need a steady diet of squats and pulls.....and eat, eat, eat.
 
BigT do you realize that you weight as much as two Latreses. Or is it Latresi if it's plural?

Anyway Latrese, like BigT said, follow the training sticky at the top of the board. But just as important is that you have to EAT. A lot. Not what 'seems' like a lot. Actually count your calories and make sure you're getting plenty. I'd probably said 3,000 for a guy like yourself to see some pretty decent weight gain over a fairly short period of time.

Plan and prepare six BIG meals per day. Try to drink a gallon of milk if at all possible. It will account for around 1600 calories. Work hard.
 
This is good advice you've been given.

Heavy compound lifts (full squat, bench press, deadlift, chinups, rows, dips) + food.
 
Yep, the sticky is good. Spend some time on www.exrx.net (linked in the sticky). Look into buying a copy of Starting Strength and/or The Strongest Shall Survive. Good starting books and worth the money.
 
Shoot yourself in both feet. Not that bad.....I mean you will want to be able to walk again one day - then eat fried pig feet for 90 days at your house.......lots of sleep and try holding your breath for 14 hours. Good time....
