GABA for sleep?

Have any of you guys tried taking gaba for insomnia? If so how much and how long before going to bed? I tried 1000mg as well as 5mg of time released sublingual melatonin. I don't think 1000mg of GABA did anything.
 
When you take GABA it effects your neurotransmitters hence the tingling feeling when you ingest it. Hospitals often use GABA as a sedative to calm patients down when they are hyper due to whatever trauma their experiencing; however I don't believe it's as effective when used for insomnia. It may make you tired or a bit drowsy, but it won't knock you out. Tylenol PM is probably more suitable for insomnia, but I always experience the benedryl hangover the morning after (horrible feeling when I'm at work). I experience insomnia from time to time, and the worst thing to do is try to sleep. Read a book, browse this site, watch TV, etc.... Eventually it should surpass. Good luck with it.

Tylenol PM?!?! Then make sure you wash it down with a bottle of VODKA. Tylenol will do as much if not more harm to your liver than some of the harshist orals if you take it even moderatly. Start with Melatonin or take Benadryl early so you dont have the hangover. Oh yeah rub some P7 on your nut sack too.
 
Melatonin works well for me. The kind i have is 3 mg's. Start out by taking 1 to see if that has an effect and then ad more if you need ot. It is a very safe drug.

Yup. Get the time released kind or you might wake up fully rested after 4 hours. It works.
 
I have had chronic insomnia for 9 years. This isn't a one night thing. I have tried many thing. Melatonin works ok in high doses. I am imune to tylenol pm active ingredient for sleep (not tylenol) and when it did work when I was 12 years old it made me feel real shitty the next day.
 
Get off melatonin - it's only good for re-setting your sleep cycle (chronic use is abuse). GABA should be used at 1.5 - 2 grams aling with 300 - 500 (doses differ for individuals) of 5-HTP. 500mg of L-Tyrosine is also an excellent addition to this stack. P-7 is also very effective. Of course, nothing beats GHB or GBL, but they are illegal in the US.

I know people who have been using 0.5mg of melatobin each night for years and they didn't need to increase the dosage and they don't feel any side effects

Dependence is a side-effect.
