So - I went to this place caller Citerella by me because the have this sign "organic chicken is in". Long story short I pick one out from infront of the butcher's counter and I get home I didn't get a chicken - I got a Capon.

LOL

It's just funny to me because of the rooster that's been lurking in my yard for the past month keeping me up.

If you don't get the joke...

You don't know what a Capon is...

HAHAHAHAHAA

For the record - I didn't like it.

LOL

My husband made me a salad, steak with garlic & onions, sweet potato & a garlic roll....Hmmmmmmmm - no vampires in my house tonite!!!

Sorry you didn't like it, I can give you some cooking ideas. Organic meat is different, there is no doubt about that. Once you get used to it, though, you find conventional meat bland, flat and flavorless in comparison.

That being said ... has anyone ever seen roosters balls? Guess I'm going to have to google that one.

So it was pointless to make it a capon then since it didn't taste better...weird.

Well, the only pointless thing is here is that you didn't get that the BUCTHER accidently gave me a CAPON instead of an ORGANIC CHICKEN.

One is female and one is - well was male.

And being that I have rooster in my yard that i joked I was going to kill and eat for dinner....

Ah irony.... lost on the young....

As a side note, I sense in the past few days I should add you to the "i hate velvett now because she was mean to one of my freind's club - although I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about because all I have is third and fourth party information"....

Oh it was very salty and gamey.... :worried:

The rest is going to my friends' dogs because I can get myself to eat it.

I've seen balls in my hand but I'm afraid the cackling wasn't from a rooster.

I know that. But all I was saying is that you said the Capon didn't taste that much better. And I was saying then what's the point of making it a Capon if it doesn't taste better since they castrate it to fatten it up to taste better and all.

I like people that speak their mind. I'm one of those people.

So anywhere you go you are surrounded by cock?

Not really no - that's not what I am saying...

Are you in the "club" too btw?
Just want to clarify....

who I should ignore.

I don't like sweet potatoes. I eat them because I know they're good for me, but I don't think I would include one in a steak dinner.

Really?? I actually prefer them now over white potatoes.....

They castrate them so the flesh will be tender - they feed them well the first 12/16 (I don't remember) weeks of life to fatten them up.

Speak your mind...

Then speak it, don't just have a wise comment to all my posts as of late.

And I'm all for expressing yourself... most people here should know that I feel that way. Expressing yourself is usually done in public and not in private, if you know what I mean.

To answer YOUR question I have no idea what the point is of CAPON is - but some like it I suppose. It's like asking what the point of Foie Gras, no?

I do like Fois Gras btw and for those that do as well - I won't ruin it for you by tell you how it's made.

Hopefully, I'll learn to like them or perhaps learn to prepare them more to my liking.

BTW, I NEVER eat white potatoes. A few years ago Time magazine hired nutritionist and dieticians for an article entitled, "10 Foods That Pack a Wallop".

http://www.time.com/time/covers/1101020121/food.html

After they listed their top 10 foods they specifically picked out the white potato as the worst food. Don't believe I had a white potato since I've read the article a couple years ago.

Try this:

Microwave the potato till it's knife tender, cut in half & scoop out the insides....Mash with some minced garlic, pepper, red pepper flakes if you like heat, and some broth. Bake the skins separately till crisp, put in the mashed sweet potato & bake till top is slightly crisp......good stuff!!

Every time people start talking about how a certain food is made, I lose my appetite. Sometimes I've considered living off protein mix. But then I had to do that for about a month during some extensive gum surgery. Won't do that again. I guess I'll just cover my ears when we start the "Do you know how they make this stuff???" discussion and go along my merry way eating my grilled chicken, turkey & steak like the happily ignorant carnivore that I am....

thanks,

I will try that. :)

Steamed marinated chicken breast, brussel sprouts, brown rice, and watermelon chunks.

God Bless my Oster Steamer for amazing chicken and vegetables. I hate to cook.

I had a spicy chicken taco and a bean burrito. Cheap dinner. I need to take a nap before I mow the yard.
